Cycling 1:00:00 [3]

Ride in to work for an emergency, and rode the new piece of singletrack I built with Andre in Palgrave East.
Hot ride home via singletrack, then on our property I got to ride the new THQ trail.

It worked! The new version is rideable. Also lots of deer prints.

Running 20:00 [2]
shoes: Topo Terraventure

Short early morning run with the dogs while it’s cool.
AD seems to be favouring his front leg again.
5 PM

Hiking 8:29 [3] 0.49 km (17:25 / km) +19m 14:36 / km

THQ Singeltrack hike to map the route.
Looks like my GPS track is messed up. Will try again some other day- heavy cloud this pm.

Running 35:00 [3]
shoes: Topo Terraventure

Run with the dogs before it got too hot.

Strength (Trail building) 2:00:00 [2]

(4 hrs) Re-did the western lower half of the THQ singletrack in the steamy heat.
This one required more than just moving branches and forest raking- I had to saw a big log and trim and transplant lots of small trees and shrubs on a less technical route. Also needed a lot of shovelling to reduce side-slope. Hopefully this one works.

Strength (Trail building) 1:30:00 [2]

3 hrs.

I got a text from Andre the Palgrave trail steward captain asking if I could help them work on the singletrack. We re-routed the trail above a soggy bit, built a raised trail bed out of logs, and cut out some nasty roots and shovelled a lot of dirt over others.

Cycling 20:00 [3]

Attempted the Treehugger Singletrack trail. (Name TBA)
First climb and rolling downhill went fine, but the second half was a fail- too steep and technical. Side-hill climb barely rideable in a super-low granny gear, and one descending switchback is kamakaze.

Strength (Trail building) 1:15:00 [1]

Worked on the singletrack that I had flagged. Bash helped me optimize the route, then it was forest- raking, log hauling and dirt moving. Got the Northern loops more or less cleared, but will need to see how rideable they are.
9 AM

Running 50:05 [3] 7.46 km (6:43 / km) +121m 6:13 / km
shoes: Topo Ultraventure Blue

(01:04.00) Morning run down to the Humber river to swim the dogs. Already warm for them- even with 2 other water breaks.
Palgrave East is almost empty now that other spots have opened up.

Legs are feeling lots of hilly biking the last few days.

Cycling 1:43:11 [3] 23.38 km (13.6 kph) +387m

Albion with Bash. Had to drive to avoid logging and road works.
Another perfect spring day, and only saw 3 other riders.

Hiking 45:00 [1]

Took the dogs on an exploration of the hilly forested parts of our property, scouting potential singletrack routes. BZdog helpfully showed me all the deer trails.
2 PM

Running 1:17:00 intensity: (17:00 @2) + (1:00:00 @4) 10.67 km (7:13 / km) +191m 6:37 / km
shoes: Topo Ultraventure Blue

Tough slow bushwhack to avoid the logging activities, then a solid dogless run around Palgrave East via the hilliest route including rollercoaster, and another slow bushwhack back. First brisk run in a while.

9 AM

Cycling 2:06:16 [3] 30.39 km (14.4 kph) +504m

Ride down to Albion via roads, around most of the network and back.
Gorgeous spring day, leaves just starting to pop.
Lots of erosion around roots, and I got stuck on some exposed off-angle roots on uphill swithcbacks. Also tens of thousands of White Ash trees have been cut.

I only saw 1other cyclist in the last 10 min.
