GRR with Escondido and Matt.
First time racing with these guys.

Started in a cool Scout camp, hill relay then off to get various optional CPs as well as 16 main ones. We aimed to clear the course, which made planing a bit easier.

WT took off fast. We leapfrogged MBR up to the E=MC2 section but they left us there. We did see Ripkin AR all race pretty much.

Some of the options were pretty technical, like the Slopestyle section of side-hilling a long steep mucky ravine. Bruce Trail into the Bermuda Triangle was deep muck too.

Our new team worked well, and I was able to contribute some nav. We had a bit of a bobble in the BT, and one 10 minute group brain-fart at 12. The dogbone section ate up a fair bit of time, and by the time we got to the final matrix we just didn't have enough left so we skipped it. If we had been cleaner earlier we would just have been able to clear the course.

We ended up 3rd male, not surprisingly behind WT and MBR. Ripkin also cleared the course and won co-ed.
ArthurD's team won female.

Great to race with these guys. Escondido is solid on the map, cool under
pressure and can really suck it up. Matt was cheerful throughout, and fast.

Interesting, technical course. Winning time was around 4 hrs, so it was a long one. Thanks to the course setters and volunteers for another good race.

Strength (Lumberjack) 1:00:00 [3]

(2 hrs)

Went out and cleared the trail old-school with saw and hammer. Most of the trees were willows and such so pretty easy cutting, but one 30cm log was oak I think, and took a ton of work.

Cycling 1:05:00 [3]

Ride in with AD. Lots of bikewhacking around fallen trees in thick bush sections of the trail. We took a longer route home with easier fallen trees in open forest, but there is no clear commute right now.

Strength 30:00 [2]

Part of workout 1 + all the rehab I could fit in.

Running 55:00 [3]
shoes: Altra Lone Peak 2.5

Out with the big boy. We did some steep and deep bushwhack hills.

Note- left leg still tight after 2 days off.

Running 1:30:25 [3] 12.21 km (7:24 / km) +391m 6:23 / km

Out with AD South from the 5th line parking lot, for max hills/km. The south bit North of 9 is a boggy mess of deadfall after the storm, but the rest was pretty good.

Note- left leg's still draggy. Doesn't extend well.

Logan the Adventuredog still had lots of oomph for a 7-dog run/swim after.
