Strength 55:00 [2]

Uneventful run with AD. No roaring trucks, and he was clipped in on his vest as well as his collar.

Sunday Nov 29, 2015 #

Cycling 1:00:00 [2]

Great ride around palgrave East with the 4-legged boys. As always, a rocket ride out of the gate- Adventuredog was bounding so fast he was getting huge air, and BZdog and I blazed along behind him. All settled down after a while, and we had a wonderful ride. I think the dogs are finally pooched now.

Strength 30:00 [2]

Foot/kneehab and part of workout 2

8 AM

Running 2:10:30 intensity: (1:20:00 @2) + (50:30 @3) 16.7 km (7:49 / km) +656m 6:32 / km
shoes: New Balance 1210v2

Great birthday Hockley NE run with the BARFs. BGY organized it, and Adventuredog had a running buddy in Rebound.
Felt good, got a few solid hill climbs and fast descents in and some nice social running too. The fast downhills were so much fun it felt like skiing!

Time deducted for stops.

Strength 30:00 [2]

Easy workout 1 and some foot/kneehab.

Running 55:00 [3]
shoes: New Balance 1210v2

Nice run to work with AD, but we had an adventure on the return night run.
(See Bash's log for full details.)
As we were going along the sidewalk an oil truck approached from a side street and stopped. I flashed my headlamp at him to be sure he saw us, even with AD's reflective vest. Unfortunately he revved his engine just as we crossed, and AD went nuts, leaping and twisting out of his collar. I called him and he stopped, but then the truck revved again and pulled out, and he bolted down the sidewalk with me tearing after him in a full-on sprint. Last I saw he was taking the underpass and heading home.
Despite my yelling and looking for his vest reflection with my blaster on full, he had taken the usual route home and was almost at Duffy's lane when we met up. At least he's car-wise and knows the route. He was pretty terrified. When we got home he peed for about 3 minutes, as he'd been too scared to go on the way.

Note

Ear is finally clearing up.

Strength 50:00 [2]

Easy workout 3 plus some foot/kneehab and lumberjack work.

Cycling 30:00 [2]

Commute with the big guy. Wet and foggy when we headed out, but gorgeous sunshine as we arrived at work.

Cycling 30:00 [2]

Nice night ride home. Chilly out.

Running 50:00 [3]
shoes: New Balance 1210v2

Quick pace on the commute with AD. Saw lots of fast-moving eyes on the ridges at night, but AD was a good boy (and on leash).

Strength 1:00:00 intensity: (30:00 @1) + (20:00 @3) + (10:00 @4)

Caron's boot camp, with Tabata intervals too. Less painful for me than the pure core class.

Monday Nov 23, 2015 #

Cycling 50:00 [2]

Snowy ride in with Bazingadog, and a great night ride home. The big guy loves running in these temps, followed by lying in front of the fire.

Sunday Nov 22, 2015 #

XC Skiing 1:00:00 [2]

Woo hoo, first ski of the year.
Rock skis, and some sketchy/ bare patches but Bash and I got out with AD, who was still frisky after his big day yesterday.
Love it!

Note - knee a bit sore from yesterday.

Running 3:08:43 [3] 25.89 km (7:17 / km) +1087m 6:02 / km
shoes: Hoka Challenger ATR

Met Dee, MsGally and Logie for a run from the Tai Chi parking lot up through Hockley with Adventuredog. Logie, pooch and I took the longer routes and would meet up with the ladies. They headed to their car North of Hockley, while AD and I said goodbye and took the more hilly Glen Cross loop back to the car at Hockey parking lot. Considering the little guy had 40 min of all-out intervals first with his big brother, AD was amazing.

Great to be out, but the legs felt the lack of training in the final few km.

Friday Nov 20, 2015 #

Strength 1:00:00 [2]

Workout 1, foot/ kneehab and some core, then more lumberjack.

Thursday Nov 19, 2015 #

Running 55:00 [2]
shoes: New Balance 1210v2

Commute with AD.
Ear still plugged, and I think I'm getting Bash's cold.

Wednesday Nov 18, 2015 #

Strength 1:10:00 [2]

Workout 3 plus foot/kneehab, and then some lumberjack work- splitting and hauling, but also hand-sawed a messy tree across the trail.

Running 54:00 [3]
shoes: New Balance 1210v2

Commute with the big boy. Feels like I have an earplug in on the right side.

Tuesday Nov 17, 2015 #

Running 1:00:00 [2]
shoes: New Balance 1210v2

Easy run with Adventuredog.
My knee feels better, although I am still getting over Belizian belly and swimmer's ear.

Different type of mission working in an a physical clinic. We saw a ton of kids who have never seen a dentist, and had a US Dentist to do ongoing care.
They want us back next year!

Note

Been busy at the clinic in Belize.
Limited bandwidth in evenings - I can only upload at 5AM.
Here's an album of pics with some captions if you're interested...

Running 30:00 [3]
shoes: Vibram FF Trek

Quick run on the beach early in the morning in Belize.
Also had a quick swim in the pool before breakfast.
Off to set up the clinic today after a morning of lectures given by Yours Truly and Dr Z.

Looks like the clinic will go well- Global Health Outreach already has basic dental chairs set up, so Tom and I just have to install the high-tech eqpt.

We have tons of supplies, but the pile of headlamps I donated last time seem to have gone astray. I brought some blasters down this time, but we'll need more than I have.

Friday Nov 6, 2015 #

Running 1:00:00 [2]

Met up with BGY to run the dogs, who really needed it.
Howling winds and pouring rain so we waited it out. Shorts and t-shirt weather, but still too windy to go in the woods, so we ran the open areas of Glen Haffy and the winter- closed road.
I could certainly feel the knee, so walked some downhills.

Wednesday Nov 4, 2015 #

Strength 1:00:00 [2]

Foothab, kneehab, workout 2.

Cycling 35:00 [2]

2 dog rocket ride- the big boy had me going 25-30kph after his brother for the first bit, then settled in to a trot. The little guy was just flying. I didn't have to pedal much for the first 3k.
Knee about 70%.

Tuesday Nov 3, 2015 #

Running 1:00:00 [1]
shoes: Altra Olympus

Easy jog with AD in cushy knee friendly shoes. I walked the steep hills.
I brought poles but didn't need them. Knee is doing better.

Monday Nov 2, 2015 #

Cycling 55:00 [2]

Easy commute with the big boy. Glorious fall colours in daylight for the trip there, but headlamps back.
Spun little gears and knee was doing a lot better. Hopefully just irritated it at badthing, not blew it out.

Sunday Nov 1, 2015 #

Note

Knee very sore today- worst it's been in a long time. Poles would have saved it but the RD said they weren't allowed.

Cycling (Trainer) 30:00 [1]

Very light spin to mobilize the knee.

Paddlng 1:00:00 [2]

Paddle down the Humber for the LD50- crash and Coach LD ran in Palgrave, biked to Caledon East and picked up others then rode back, but we only joined in the festivities for the last bit. Knee still bad.
Unfortunately there was a 1k road allowance portage at the end. Ouch!
Great meal and party after.
