C3 Egg Nog Jog at Albion Hills on a foggy day. This is a fun, good-spirited event with lots of creative costumes, including some terrific outfits on the dogs who raced.
The running surface was mostly pavement with a hint of freezing rain. There were some long, steady hills. On each of the two laps, there was a 1.2 km section of mud, slush, soft snow and puddles. I was happy about that because it's the one thing I find easier than road runners do.
It was nice to see 'Bent volunteering at the turnaround point of each lap.
At the finish line, Timato's sister Ann - or "Amy" as she's known in this crowd - gave me my medal.
Then I picked up a cup of egg nog and a cupcake before heading home.
Racing against triathletes and runners is humbling. Many of them run regularly, which appears to be a good strategy. As always, my age group was full of strong women who kicked my butt. I placed 2/3 of the way back among all women in the 10K, which seemed pretty reasonable, but I was 9th out of 10 women in my age group. Yikes! I would have looked much less silly in the 5K (or in a younger age group) but I wanted an hour of running today. Lots of fun! :)
