Fun trail run north of Georgetown - Part 1 of the Gally Party. Mr. Gally had printed maps, recommended routes for different paces and assigned us a 2-hour time limit. Within a few minutes, we'd broken into 3 groups: Boys, Fast Girls and Conversational Girls. SistaP could have run with the Fast Girls but was kind enough to act as a tour guide for Mrs. Tiny, Browner and me through Silver Creek Conservation Area and the Scotsdale Farm.
It was another bluebird day, so warm that I took off my jacket, toque and gloves after a couple of kms. Even Harps would have to agree it was nice to be outside today! The trails were in fantastic shape for winter running with the snow all packed down. The scenery was pretty with lots of rolling hills, twists and turns to keep things interesting. There were a few treacherous places for runners without spikes though. Browner went down hard at one point and hopefully will not suffer any lasting effects. Hawaii didn't make her soft; she kept on running.
This was a great way to finish off the Canadian Winter version of the February Challenge. My plan was to do a minimum of 5.1K outdoors on foot each day by running, XC skiing, Rideau canal skating, snowshoeing and orienteering. Although I got outdoors each day, I only skied 1.5K on the day before the Gatineau Loppet because I wanted to preserve Goose's professional ski wax job. So I was under target on one day but I logged almost 300 km outdoors in one of the coldest months on record and had a lot of fun doing it. Like DD11, I'm not taking tomorrow off but Monday I am doing something different!
