Very efficient, late night version of this week's strength routine after a long day in Brantford helping my parents. We had to drop out of the big family Christmas at Deerhurst tonight since Dad isn't well enough. None of us is feeling too jolly this holiday season.

DontGetLost Icebreaker - so much fun! Everyone seems to love the new blue / green / black diamond format with different twists to keep it interesting - like the moving aid station CP in the back of the ARK Rav4 and the small maze with a separate map.

It was a perfect day for it - just above freezing, a little muddy and no rain. There were 225 people - wow! I had a great time although I made a bad turn after Walk the Line and wasted 4.5 minutes heading for #60 before I realized that I was out to lunch.

In Score-O, I often take on too much and end up running hard to the finish. Today I was more restrained and spent the last half hour finding controls within range of the finish. I hadn't actually planned to do that but when I got close to the clubhouse, I decided to avoid another stressful sprint at the end. Unfortunately, that meant that I had to backtrack a few minutes to get some golf course controls I'd already passed but it was still worth it.

The penalty was just 10 points per minute so I risked running to #43 at the end and finished 85 seconds inside the time limit - phew! Did I say how much fun this was? Oh yes, I already did. Thanks to all the organizers who did such a great job. :)

'Bent and I gave our UTMB presentation again - this time with a lot of kids in the audience. We are probably a bad influence. ;)

Huge congratulations to AdventureGirl! - the very deserving Ted de St. Croix Athlete of the Year!

Another wake-up-and-stress-out night so I'm tired today. Most of this year has been stressful so I'm not sure why my brain is suddenly doing this again after several months of refreshing, all-night sleeping.

Slowrunner's assignment minus the mountain climbers since this is Hard Core class night.

The Wake-me-up-in-the-middle-of-the-night-to-worry-about-stuff Fairy paid me a visit for the first time in quite awhile.

Still a few things my gimpy shoulder can't do but it no longer feels like I'm going to rip my arm off. Progress.

Trail run to Glen Haffy, up Caledon's K2 to the stile, around the Bruce Trail loop, then back home. With 4-8 cm of snow on the ground, I had to use extreme caution on the boardwalks. Many of the roots, rocks and holes were snowy enough to be hidden from view but not snowy enough to be rendered harmless, so I watched my feet *very* carefully. No more sprained ankles allowed!

It was cold, silent and absolutely magical in the forest. About 3.5 km from home, it became too dark to see the trail so I ran the rest of the way using the 26 lumens of my emergency Petzl e+Lite. Not recommended but it works in a pinch!

First full session with Slowrunner. Good stuff! My gimpy rotator cuff has improved a lot over the past few weeks. It still limits what I can do, e.g. no push-ups yet, but it's not that long since it was painful to open a door with a key or lift a heavy grocery bag. It feels like the weights are helping it already - not to mention all the torture from Thumbs-of-Death last month.

Chilly sunset run around the conservation land between Gore and Humber Station Roads. On the west side, I was bushwhacking at times although someone had flagged a route for some reason. The place is absolutely full of deer so I hope it's not *that* reason. On the east side, trails were wide and clear - as in wide and clear enough to skate ski. Interesting...

I bailed early to go to Albion Orchards for a Christmas tree. It may be hard to feel the holiday spirit this year so I thought a little decorating would be good for the soul.
