Paddle 4:00:00 [3] 23.0 km (10:26 / km)
To wrap up our canoe trip we finished our loop from Louisa across a 3k portage (and found my pace counting was 240 paces off with the weight of a barrel and canoe on my back half the time). Heading north to Lake of Two Rivers, we did not have the luxury of portages just lakes and rivers and this really felt a lot closer to what I imagine Wilderness Traverse will feel like in a month.
The loop doesn't totally connect Lake of Two Rivers with Cache Lakes (without a painful trip up an oxbow river) and so I thought it would be a great idea for Storm to drop me off on a rail trail that sort of connects the loop. The idea being to pick up the mini van and bring it back to the final campground on Hwy 60.
Running 1:30:00 [3] 11.0 km (8:11 / km)
So I didn't look at the map closely when I planned this out but it wasn't the 5k flat run I thought I'd get, but rather 7k flat run, followed by a 3k portion of the rugged Track and Tower hiking trail and another km on a busy highway.
Storm was getting worried it took me so long but the route back to the van was not quite so easy, followed by me not remembering the right campground Sean was waiting at.
We finally connected and burgers were had by all.
Good AR practise!
