Saturday Jul 30, 2016 #

Cycle 3:29:08 [3] 55.0 km (3:48 / km)

Took some friends on a long ride on mixed terrain from Limehouse over to Terra Cotta, stopping at Spirit Cidery and the Credit for a swim, then pizza and beer at the pub and finally back to the car.

That's fun training!

Running hills 43:00 [4]

Storm had a great idea for efficient training - 4 hill repeats up the escarpment on 14th side road with van at the bottom holding our bikes....Storm did one more repeat than me.

Cycle hills 33:00 [3]

...then 4 repeats on the bike. Ouch!

Running 1:15:00 [3]

Run with Storm and the dogs in Rattlesnake, then run home alone on roads. Too hot for the dogs pads!

Thursday Jul 21, 2016 #

Cycle 1:25:00 [3]

Kelso Mtn Bike Race:

Raced 45 seconds slower on the same course as last week, but without Nicole to chase my motivation just wasn't the same. Plus I got off my bike 4 times due to riders stopping in front of me, crashes all down snakes and ladders and my own lack of ability. I don't love this race series but it is pushing me to step it up a notch.

Sunday Jul 17, 2016 #

Cycle 2:00:00 [3]

Mixed terrain ride with Storm.

Tuesday Jul 12, 2016 #

Cycle 1:30:00 [3] 25.0 km (3:36 / km)

Kelso Mtn Bike Race Series. 2 loops of 7km course but ride to and from Kelso. I don't love racing sprints but it definitely pushes you to ride over more obstacles and take less ideal lines. I finished a few spots higher this time, now in the top 100. Woohoo.

Monday Jul 11, 2016 #

Running 49:00 [3] 8.0 km (6:08 / km)

Hike with dogs around Kelso and then Storm drove them home while I did a little run around the park at sunset and then home. Efficient!

Sunday Jul 10, 2016 #

Cycle 2:15:00 [3] 45.0 km (3:00 / km)

Mixed terrain ride with Kathie and Yumi from Rockwood over to Guelph Lake for a swim, then ride over to the Wooly for lunch, then we worked our way back on some old riverside/rail trails I had never been on before, through Eden Mills and then finishing up on Indian Trail.

Saturday Jul 9, 2016 #

10 AM

Cycle 40:00 [3] 8.0 km (5:00 / km)

Family exercise at Guelph Lake with Storm running the dogs and me following on bike. We stopped half way to swim and throw sticks.
4 PM

Road ride up sixth line and back home through Halton Forest and Kelso.

Thursday Jul 7, 2016 #

Cycle 1:05:00 [3] 20.0 km (3:15 / km)

Ride into Kelso, picked up the race course loop, not too difficult.

Sunday Jul 3, 2016 #

Paddle 4:00:00 [3] 12.0 km (20:00 / km)

First canoe trip with the dogs to Kawartha Highlands!

We kept our expectations low, and went in to the south end of the park from Coon Lake to an island camp site we reserved on Vixen Lake. There were 5 portages and 4 small lakes so we were going to be self-rescuable in case the dogs tipped the canoe.

Thankfully it all worked out but it was sketchy at times as Contour and Scout tried to figure out how the canoe worked. We don't think they loved it, but it was super hot and the bugs were terrible. Also I think bigger lakes would be better to give them time to settle into the paddling routine.

Contour and Scout are now swimming fiends and even worried us by swimming after a seagull on the other side of the lake. Contour even stole a fish from one of the birds.

The best part of the trip was on the way home where we stopped at a tiny scraggly island with a beautiful 360 view of the park and had a good time swimming and chasing sticks.

Cycle 1:30:00 [3]

Mountain bike at Albion Hills with Yumi and her new bike. All went well until we crossed the road and I put her on an advanced trail by mistake. Otherwise I think she is liking the riding.
