Cycle 2:00:00 [1] 31.0 km (3:52 / km)

Fun ride around Prince Edward County - shouldnt count this as training on account of the 5 wineries we stopped at, but what the heck, it's time to get back to the training log.

Bruce Peninsula Multi Sport Race

I paired up with a friend that was doing this as her second AR, and together raced as the only women's relay team for this great race. I took only the 2 bike legs and Tamara did the paddle and 2 runs.

Leg 2/5 Bike 38k 2.5hr

Leg 4/5 Bike 28k 1.75hr

...more to follow!

Slow recovery run after having the world's sharpest elbows worked through my hamstrings and hips.

Trek (Lots o Hills) 1:55:00 [3] 11.93 km (9:38 / km) +1237m 6:21 / km

Lots of walking up hill work (7 times up and down at different places) and a bit of light running at Kelso on the flats and downhill. I made a run for the Darwin Award doing hill repeats on an exposed slope during a thunderstorm, but alas I am still alive to tell the tale.

Cycle race 7:05:00 [4] 100.0 km (4:15 / km)

Eager Beaver Enduro Mtb Bike:

Five of us made it out, including Storm, Mike Van den Bocsch, for this race by the Substance Project at Mansfield and beyond. This was by far the most single track I have ever done in one sitting, with the first 50K being single track and a bit of doubletrack, then there was a random 25K road ride and then back into the woods for a final 25K torture chest of more single track (same as the beginning but in reverse).

This is a small race (maybe 50 riders doing 100K and 100miles), but was extremely well marked. I was by myself for 99% of the race but was never off course, or even in fear of being off course, due to the 1500 markers on course. Major kudos to the organizers for taking the time to focus on this, the most important aspect of the race. The second most important aspect - beer at the finish, was also provided!

I moved along consistently but slow (as always), and wished I had made more time to get back on the bike after Untamed, but WOOHOO, I still made the podium (and he actually had a podium) in second for women. There were only 2 women in the 100K, but I won't complain!

Substance Project races are awesome for AR training - they try to make the course a giant loop, and not just laps of a 20K course.
