Orienteering race (British Middle) 31:27 [5] 5.48 km (5:44 / km) +7m 5:42 / km
shoes: Inov8 X-Talon 212

Started off well, and according to winsplits i was 3rd until 7. Then made a mistake when i was to low, thinking i had just come to the drainage cover which was higher than the one i actually had. Then a bit hesitant on the next one when i couldnt see it. then not so bad until i got distracted by a control which was 50m away from mine. Then exited that the wrong way, and then the one after that i got a bit confused. Fine from then on. Bit dissapointed with result but if i was 1min5secs quicker i would have been 6th - so pretty close! Result worse than time i think.

Wanted to make sure i got into the a final so wasn't taking it easy. Started off well but lost a bit my flow part way round and started to make some mistakes but kept it together and did fine.

Orienteering race (Britsh Sprint Final 1A) 15:22 [5] 3.21 km (4:47 / km) +8m 4:44 / km

Went off pretty hard but lost my flow again and started to make some scrappy mistakes but made sure i concentrated to keep them tiny rather than significant. Didn't think i was having a great run, but obviously not too bad. Glad to see i picked up into 2nd on the run in !

Running race 9:25 [5] 2.6 km (3:37 / km)

House cross country. Baking hot and not long after lunch but did fairly well I think. Came like 5th I think including the year above. Felt like I had a bit more at the end and it was very short. Time and distance are both estimates

Tuesday Mar 20, 2012 #

Running 31:15 [3] 5.87 km (5:19 / km) +19m 5:14 / km

From home round the golf course onto Matley Heath and then instead of doing the sand dune did three times up the slope next to it which is longer. Then home via Bolton's Bench and Ferrari garage. Probably a bit less terrain today then last time, and taking it a bit easier.
Got house cross country on thursday which will probably be about 15mins or a bit less of hard running, and then bleep test in sports science on friday which is going to be competitive.
