v proud of this day on the bike w Erl !! Land Run 100. significantly less mud than last year.

i knew i had about 11 minutes to make up on the 1st place Double girl but i didn't really know her. rolled out in back of pack EZ and then around mile 10 i saw her! on a SS! i recognized her pack from the day before. we went back and forth for a few miles, i dropped my chain (?!) and then got ahead and just had to ride hard the rest of the day. i had no idea this girl's bike speed but i figured if she was on a SS i would have to push the flats/downs and then survive climbing. we rolled into Guthrie at 3.5 hours (90 minutes faster than last year) and had a good TA. I kept one eye on the road but didn't see the girl (not that that meant much). rolled out of Guthrie w less clothes on and then kept pushing. felt really motivated until about mile 90, then it was a slog into the finish. i felt like i had rode really solid the whole day. i didn't wear a HR strap bc it chafed me yesterday, but it would have been nice to see those #s. at the finish line we waited for 15 minutes but no Double women so i figured i had the W...and it was true!!

Land Run Double step 1: run 50K.
i was a little scared about this. my long runs have been fewer, shorter, and more arduous than last year. my L hammy is tight even after a 4mile run. but we were signed up, and the District Bicycles crew does SUCH a great w this event !! weather was 75F, sunny, really windy. the winds ended up being more helpful than not bc it was tailwind on the flatter second half of the course and the headwinds at first didn't bother us much in the rollers. anyway we just managed the day really well w food, liquids, and Motrin. never got behind, just let the pace be what it is, and finished. the miles of pain i had from last year (18-22) were non-existent but my overall steady pace was about 20min slower. i am not stressing it bc of weather and low training time! a great day to enjoy, animals were out full force (including the llama who pranced over to the fence to chat).
