Land Run 100 bike!!!!!
ride to first CP (Guthrie) in 5:05. we were losing brakes along the way but stopping and dialing them in to regain for a few miles. i actually enjoyed the HAB sections in the first half since they were usually protected from the wind and a time to warm up feet.
FENDER.

at guthrie i swapped the regular SF bike gloves out for a pair that had an integrated wisp mitten top. this was huge.
leaving Guthrie we were pretty optimistic of a 10hr finish, but brought lights just in case. well as the rain stopped it turned the mud from semi-self-clearing slop (annoying but rideable) to clingy goo which requires stopping, scraping, and carrying. that, plus our hands weren't really working to feed ourselves while moving so we had to stop to drink and eat. so we slowed down a lot. we knew if we could just keep the bikes functioning we would finish. so we were super careful to not tweak RDs. the mud shoved our chains off a lot and about 10 miles out i twisted my RD hanger but Erl was able to magically bend it back. big sigh of relief there.
we saw lots of cool things
