wanted to get a feel for the rigid fork on some tech singletrack (been riding it since June but not many demanding trails) so went w Erl to Greensfelder and met Maria. 3 of us did Dogwood, then the race loop, then M and I continued to new Beulah and Fossil Ridge trails. i wasn't super clean but that didn't have anything to do w the fork, just lack of mtb miles and unwillingness to take big risks w 2 big weekends coming up. forgot how much aggression it takes to ride GF well. beautiful day and so nice to ride w M again, and always nice to ride w Erl :) saw a lot of horses, really polite riders. but so much horse poop on the trails :(

put-in at Pacific Palisades on the Meramec w Erl and paddled down to Allenton while exploring the backwater channels. really beautiful paddle and great weather. route is about 7mi point-to-point but we added 2mi above the put-in and another 1mi on foot and 1mi in back channels.

then a self-shuttle run back to the car. took road shoes cause it's a road route but we ended up using a RR gravel right-of-way to avoid traffic so that was some feet toughening time.
