Bike 2:30:00 [3] 20.0 mi (8.0 mph)
shoes: Salsa Warbird

ate WAY too much food at Bike Stop Cafe. egg burrito and bowl of chili. then we got beers at the gas station. all of a sudden i had no power, i think all blood was working to digest those calories. i couldn't do anything about it either - eating/drinking more would just add to problem. so just slowed down. massively. katy trail was too soft to make decent progress on so JZ rerouted us thru subdivisions. route was awesome but i just felt so bloated and slow. cried a little. Dwayne pushed me. and then for a bit Peat pushed him in an awesome Team Noah triple push.
5 PM

Bike 2:00:00 [3] 27.0 mi (13.5 mph) +1000ft
shoes: Salsa Warbird

met Jeff and Maria and Melisa at The Mound. i laid in the parking lot for a while, just trying to let digestion happen. after much discussion, we decided a lap of OT's Tues Night Ride route was in order. rode thru LV then onto Katy. pretty soft in sections but i was doing a little better hanging w the group on the flats. shared 630cal QT PBC rice krispie bar w everyone at the base of Terry. then Jeff pushed me basically up the entire thing, in a beautiful sunset. rollers on Duke and then down into Defiance. skipped gin shots there and took Katy/Hamburg back to The Mound. could hang on the flats but uphill still a large struggle.
8 PM

Walk 2:15:00 [3] 5.3 mi (25:28 / mi) +600ft 23:00 / mi
shoes: Hoka Mafate M7.5

night hike at L&C with the crew and Yvonne!! Love Connection to Clark, trails were insane sloppy muddy. stopped at the overlook for a while. Peat and Kate went straight back but rest of us decided to complete loop of Clark. that was a mistake for me, L hip flexor exploded. super slow. cried a little. drew a ton of inspiration from Peat's broken hip and tales of AR Worlds mud treks. told myself to deal and i dealt.
11 PM

Bike 3:00:00 [3] 30.0 mi (10.0 mph)
shoes: Salsa Warbird

Stage 5. just ridin bikes home. Peat and Kate left The Mound early. me JZ Dwayne Adam Ian. Katy had dried out so motored on that. snacks before crossing Page. up Marine (climbtime) and then fabricated a route south using Craig and New Ballas, pretty great thanks to the late hour. back to Alpine Shop around 0300.

i did get sleepy here and there but didn't have that much caffeine. about 20oz total of coke, a couple excedrins, 2 coffees. no hallucinations.

overall i'd say my nutrition was pretty horrible. i just kinda threw a bunch of bars in my bin Friday morning and hoped for the best. aid station at Aerie's helped me out a lot w chips, pretzels, peirogis, and cookies. i didn't have enough salty stuff of my own which led to overeating it at lunch/gas stations, which led to overfull belly. nutrition usually goes so well for me, so i got lax, and it cost me big time this weekend. discipline renewed!

other than slowness, nothing went wrong, which is crazy for this many combinations of people over this many miles and hours. COR gates were open. ferries no ish. no mechanicals, major injuries, or mean drivers. we did some reroutes, but did not get lost. cabin at Aerie's and meeting room at The Mound were lifesavers. when people were hurting (mostly me), other people slowed to help. weather was perfect. and i got to ride >50mi in a pretty miserable state so when i'm feeling good...look out!

Note

don't even know where to begin. woke up Fri 0600 and going to sleep Sun 0400. party started 1600 Fri and finished up 0300 Sun. some down time in there but otherwise a lot of dream crushing. Team Noah blows my mind, mostly the degree that Dwayne and Peat are behind me. JZ stepped up huge with pacing and bike nav. I think totals are around 45mi on foot and 150mi on bike. didn't use a garmin much but others did. my nutrition sucked and I had to undo a reverse bonk after a massive lunch. weird and frustrating. but dang, these people, they amaze me.
4 PM

Bike 4:00:00 [3] 50.0 mi (12.5 mph)
shoes: Salsa Warbird

left Alpine Shop a bit after 4p
rode thru city to COR bridge w Dwayne, Peat, JZ, Chuck, Jim, Maria. beautiful sunset. Jim and Maria flipped it at the river. we continued on MCT trails northbound to Grafton. got cold. arrived Grafton about 8:20p
9 PM

Run 10:48:16 [3] 38.49 mi (16:50 / mi) +8927ft 13:49 / mi
shoes: Hoka Mafate M7.5

8 laps at Aerie's. slightly different loop, shortened last year's loop by a bit and cut out a medium climb. 1st lap got lost on old course, figured out new course. was in 2nd for laps 2-4 and starting to freak out about how to make up the 3-5min i was down. then Dwayne caught me lap 5, pulled my head out of my ass, gained the lead, and we motored for laps 5-7. beautiful sunrise. JZ joined for last 1/2 of lap 8.

Adam = 5 laps
Dwayne = 7 laps
Peat = 4 laps
Chuck = 3 laps
JZ = 8 hours of sleep.
Matt = support
Ian and Kate got there in the AM.

Hokas worked great, didn't tape feet but no blisters!! new gaiters too. sharky.
