The Lockdown - Stages 2 & 3
We combined both biking stages (road and trail) for this one, most of the true trails in the area are too wet to ride. Started w a delicious breakfast at Bike Stop Cafe and headed out on the Katy. We met the Sona’s on their tandem near The Mound, did Busch Wildlife (way to much car traffic to be enjoyable), then the Terry Hill loop. Found two geocaches.

The Lockdown - Stage 1
we wanted to do The Lockdown over Memorial Day weekend but didn’t really do any planning. So after work Friday we printed out the “clue sheet” and pieced together a plan. Turns out it would make our lives easier to do something that night so Erl suggested a long night neighborhood “urban hike”. We could even bring T and then she would be tired for us being away all day Saturday. So we just walked our normal neighborhood run route and even found our first geocache. Beautiful night to be out.

hike out at Babler w Erl n T. nice day. we started w a loop of the Hawthorne Trail which i absolutely love. something about the open woods and ridge loop, afternoon sun, it is so nice. about halfway thru the walk we came across a group of 3 people and a loose dog, slightly bigger than T. we thought the dog had escaped so we tried to call it back to the people. the dog saw Tess, came towards us, and then the owner said "my dog is mean!" and sure enough the dog jumped on Tess and started biting her. we were yelling, the owner was yelling, it was scary. the dog walked off towards the owner, and we just stood there. then the dog came back and started barking at me, i was yelling back at it, Erl found a stick to defend ourselves, the owner took her sweet time walking over and scolded us for yelling and "threatening" her dog. AS IF! finally she grabbed the leash and we left. it was scary. no idea why that dog was loose in the first place. fortunately we were not hurt and Tess seemed fine mentally. she got to go swimming next and all's well. finished w another loop of Hawthorn, so beautiful.
