Was hoping this cold would disappear with a good two or three days rest, but still pesky enough on Saturday that I debated pulling the plug on even today's run. However, I'd planned this social outing a few weeks back and thought a long easy run could potentially kick the mucus out ...that it certainly did in ...um, virtual buckets.
My cousin's husband and I did our "farmhouse run", a run we've done almost every year since 2000 as he prepares for the fall marathon. However, this year with the shift of the Toronto International to the spring he followed it (preferring the course over the windy STWM) and hence hasn't been training regularly over the summer. Didn't slow him down, nor did the gross cold temp and driving rain going up the sixth line. Great fun catching up and running together ...especially during the second half after I'd dropped off breakfast at the Hilton Falls outhouse.
Distance adjusted as after reviewing the data the Garmin obviously didn't lock to satellites until a 1km into the run.
Woke up and felt as though someone had punched me in the face. Atleast this is 2.5wks out from race day, so going to cool the jets for a couple days and hopefully kick this thing.
...I did kinda ask for this after putting seven straight days of running, three of which were speed sessions in downpours. So first rest day yesterday and my immune system seemed to pack it in too.
