Running (Commute) 18:00 [2]

Running warm up/down 25:00 [2]

Running tempo 26:01 [4]

TOTNT - Riverdale Rally
I've decided to start recording the ground conditions in my log to better qualify the times, when looking back through the archives. No longer, can I simply look at a historical January workout and assume that the conditions were icy or deep snow, after last weeks PB and this weeks slippery skate (thanks to unpredictable weather conditions). Making it a simple 1 through 5 scale with a one liner qualifier:
(1 being "Perfect Conditions" and 5 being "Sh$t Conditions").

The effort was an honest 4 from start through to finish. Nothing left in the tank when trying to kick up the last 50m. If the conditions had been like last week's I suspect this might have been a rival effort to the 24min barrier.

Conditions: (Level 3) 1.5 - 2" of snow cover.

West Loop: 11:52.91 (Cm. 11:52.91)
East Loop: 11:24.86 (Cm. 23:17.77)
UOTV: 02:43.95 (Cm. 26:01.72)

TOTNT - "Return of the Intervals" workout

...kinda fell apart over the holidays where speed work is concerned. We made up for it this evening with a solid workout, including a 110% chase start on the final minute. ...wow Tiny can move somethin' fierce!

Stairs 8 intensity: (3 @1) + (5 @4)

ten sets, alternating singles and doubles.
...plus some spanst to close 'er out.

Running long 1:55:00 [2]

A poor start to the day on my part... out the door 15min late, no breakfast, no absolutely necessary "pit stop", late picking up Tiny, and consequently started the DVCA run chasing footprints in the snow and fighting a disagreeing bowel system. Wouldn't bother me if I didn't have Tiny with me, who was down for his first Saturday morning DVCA run, so consequently felt guilty he missed running with the crew.

We chased the crew through the valley, but never saw them until the railtrail at the end, where they appeared WAAAAYYY up at the end by the parking lot as we came out onto the trail. Chatted briefly in the parking lot, then Tiny and I head to Timmy-ho-bags for recovery and onto Chedoke for a rally.

Running warm up/down 25:00 [2]

First two winter rally loops. Bowel system still having an internal battle and left my second present of the day in the woods ...(if you loose your ball in the woods around the 16th tee on Beddoe this spring, you might want to take the penalty drop ball instead).

Running tempo 28:19 intensity: (20:00 @3) + (7:00 @4) + (1:19 @5)

Never run the rally in daylight before! Great conditions and set a new PB, as it was hard packed and no snow. But I struggled greatly with fatigue and cramping in both calves (would virtually lock up with each step, was forced to speed hike Ron Lowry hill), due to my week long taper and 2.5hr DVCA/Chedoke warm-up. Tiny, who was relaxing in the car, said I looked to be laboring as I came out of loop 2; although I think I always look like that.

Despite my poor performance, still set a new PB when I look back through the archives (could only find one set of times, despite the countless times I ran the route in 2005). Will have to come back under similar course conditions when I'm fresh and give it a proper go to challenge Sudden's inhuman record ;)

Loop 1: 10:16.97 (Cm. 10:16.97)
Loop 2: 11:10.25 (Cm. 21:27.22)
Loop 3: 6:52.28 (Cm. 28:19.50)

Note

Luckily I had a client meeting yesterday, which required me to dress a bit nicer and hence not jog into the office. I pass almost directly infront of the store on my commute route.
