Orienteering race (Red mid COW) 43:23 [3] *** 4.3 km (10:05 / km) +210m 8:07 / km
25c shoes: O icebugs 2015

Too much climb. I was even slower than yesterday.
Some of the control locations were shaky. They used dead trees as a symbol which is like looking for a tree in the forest. I never knew what I was looking for at the control locations. Many controls were in a direct line and could have been removed.

Course wise, I was slow to #1, then settled down and did well through 8. 8-9 we had to crawl under a wire fence and I lost time when my number ripped off. PInned one corner back on but it ripped off again. I finally had to carry it with my map. I lost 30 seconds on this and then lost my train of thought while navigating so lost more time on #9.
I lost more time at 15. I climbed out of 14 and took the high field around but misread the final approach and pulled up short. I didn't see the trail options as the trail was under the control line and circle.
leaving 18 I started off the wrong direction and never quite compensated. I stopped short. saw a control behind me and ran over to it (it wasn't mine). then relocated and kept going.
With the climb, bad footing, and just being tired I never got up to speed. I was slower than yesterday.

I felt good until I started running. The first hill I couldn't catch my breath. I was slow the whole course. Even in areas where you could run I was slow. One of the juniors ran by me and I could see how slow I was going. I was clean though. I lost 30 seconds on one control but that was about the only mistake I made. I had a few hesitations.
