Orienteering race (Chicago blue) 1:37:32 [4] 10.8 km (9:02 / km)

It was the usual day. When things went right I was moving at the winner speed. Unfortunately, there was some serious route choice guesses where I guessed wrong. On top of that I made several mistakes.
The map was suppose to greener and it was. Unfortunately you could never tell what the green was going to be like. The "green slash" was usually very fast running. The rough open fields were often very rough. At what point does a rough open field become more? There were "rough" open where the marsh grass/reeds were over my head. It was slower than medium green. I also go covered in burrs. Several early route choices were not only slower but unfairly so. I got stuck in fight which was larger than mapped, then had to slog through rough open fields. Eventually I learned to stay in the woods which were always faster.
Lost time going to 6 when my route choice took me on a direct line from 8 to 7. I followed that line to seven instead of 6. Fortunately I realized what I had done and it was only about 2 minutes lost.
Screwed up the next one when I couldn't find a trail junction. Of the people I talked to, only one person found the trail junction. Fought my way through some green to get to the trail then missed the final road part of the leg. I follwed the white woods which were crappy only to find out alter that the "indistinct trail" through the green wasn't bad.
Lets talk indistinct trail. What is the definition of a trail. If the trail is only 4 feet tall with a thorny canopy, is it a trail or animal track?

Orienteering race (sprint) 12:31 [4] 2.2 km (5:41 / km)

I started off slow. Didn't push the pace but tried to keep moving without hesitation. Pulled up short on number 7 which was the only real time lost. I also took the trail around to 10 when it was quicker to go straight through the green.

Orienteering race (ramble: Blue) 43:45 [5] 5.9 km (7:25 / km)

Lost a lot of time on control three. Entire map was flat side and vague'ish. Control three had all that plus a whole of root stocks but the didn't tell us what the mapping threshhold was for the rootstocks. On top of that, what was mapped as a small trail was indistinct and very hard to see with fallen leaves on it. I lost at least 6 minutes on that control. There were a lot of people wandering around there. Tom Carr and Gerald Yip to name a few. I lost another two minutes on a bad route choice (choose to run on a trail that was again indistinct.

Volleyball (Indoor) 1:00:00 [2]
shoes: VB: Newbalance 620

My team just didn't play well. The other team wasn't that good but we sunk well below their level. There was no reason to loose but we did. It was just one mistack after another by everyone (but me). Unfortunately, I didn't have much action. I blocked the other team so they stopped hitting it on my side. Our setter was off so I didn't get that many sets either.
We did manage to win the last one.

Soccer warm up/down (Indoor) 18:00 [5]
shoes: Soccer indoor Nike 2006

A lot of people didn't show up tonight. We only have 6 regulars. I started out at forward which is where I very rarely play. Our defense was really weak tonight. The other team started out with a quick lead. Finally I got the ball and started making things happen. I scored a goal by faking out the goalie. I then scored a goal with a long outside shot. Unfortunatley the other team scored more. We were down 6-3 at half.
The second half I went into goal. Without me on the field and with my team getting tired it didn't go well. We ended up losing 10-5. Only one of the goals was my fault. I actually did stop a lot of them.

Run (road) 39:27 [3] 5.4 mi (7:18 / mi)
shoes: Brooks Adrenaline 2007

Got home late from work. There was a QOC board meeting but I needed to run. It was getting dark so I did my run in a slightly different order.
felt strong and needed to get some distance so ran an extra mile more than I had been running in my normal quick runs. Still bathroom itis but not as bad tonight.
Also worked on my form. Ran like a runner rather than a tired old man. It is night like this that I feel there is still hope for me.

Rt 175 + 1 park + Severn.
