Orienteering 2:03:05 [1] 4.4 km (27:58 / km)

Borrowed Walt's map and went around his Brown course. Small errors on the first 2 controls, then more or less right on, with one miss when I climbed down a little too far because I was 20m right of the control.

Hiking 10:00 [1] 4.0 km (2:30 / km)

To Luke's start, then finish and to the main finish, then back. Counting this as training because it was such a challenge. Took 17 minutes to walk down the roads from the finish to Luke's start (800m).

Got home from work just before 9, allowing just enough time to zip over to Bayview and avoid a third straight goose egg. Was awful in the water after the few week break.

Note
(rest day)

Straight from work to the Sabres game (via EA). Another generally poor effort but a highlight reel goal by Girgensons was worth the price of admission.

Note
(rest day)

Planned to swim after arriving home, but it was late (after 8pm) and my hip had been a bit sore using the clutch on the drive home, so I wimped out and ate dinner instead.

Flying Pig at Mounds - Green Middle Distance

Went around too many reentrants on the way to C3 before cutting down. It took some time to figure out what had happened, so I was in a hole early. Also had a miss on C8, but C11 was bad: I made it through the corn fields nicely, but when I angled toward the control, I was too far right and misread the ditches that crossed the trail. Went down too far before really checking with the compass and realizing the lake was in the wrong place, so back up, over and back down.

That put me 8 minutes behind schedule, but the next legs were shorter and I stayed more focused, to finish well under the 2-hour time that I didn't want to be over.
