Setting controls for Map Hike 2012 at Dryer Rd. nate had placed 10 last week, so I took care of 10 more and we are good to go, as soon as we tell Linda which controls we actually used.

Orienteering 56:44 [2] 3.0 mi (18:53 / mi) +140m 16:30 / mi

Tried to check which controls nate had set. Found 8 of the 10, but didn't look at one location, couldn't find the knoll at another and didn't find a control at the 3rd. He used two of the three, so I'll have to send him the map. I was working without a compass and without my glasses, so I could easily have missed the markers (as I missed the obvious knoll that I've been to before).

Short, easy run after bringing Luke to his baseball game. I was able to watch 50 minutes before heading over to Sectionals at Penfield HS. Too bad - I missed a 10-inning thriller, with Luke pitching 6 thru 9. Sadly, the bad guys prevailed again. Luke's baseball team seems to be picking up where his hockey team left off, losing by one frequently.

RH3 from Farmington. Arrived just a bit late, so was caught behind the back of the pack on the early single-track, but did have several sections where I picked up the pace.

Included a stop at the Finger Lakes casino, but I was not prepared to play the video poker machines they had - needed to study up - so I didn't.

Got another workout in during practice today. I joined the girls for their light workout, which was about all I could handle for now: 3 x 800 cruise intervals, followed by 4 x 200. I had everyone on speed limits, and they almost didn't run too fast. I did let the girls open up on the last 200 and they are looking fast.

3:20, 3:18, 3:16 w/ just 52 and 46 seconds recovery.
44, 40, 41, 39 with about 85 seconds between each.

Very short w/dn.
