Note
(rest day)

Went for a walk around historic Ardsley, NY with Chris - picked up a bottle of Merlot and scouted local dinner options.

Swimming 35:21 [3] 0.91 mi (38:50 / mi)

4:20/8:58
1:38,43,43,44,44
3:51,50

Didn't strain myself in a rare (recently) pool appearance.
6 PM

Hashing 2:00:00 [2] 8.0 mi (15:00 / mi)

Perhaps I should have signed up for Green this weekend. Did the hash from off of Brighton-Henrietta TL Rd. Brighton's finest showed up just before the start, but it was deemed OK to leave our cars parked in the lot during the run.

And what a run it was. Left at 6:35, returned sometime after 9. Plenty of swamp-stream crossings, and a klassy stop. Plenty of good terrain running, but would have been better to have done this long run sometime earlier than two days before the Trials festival.

4 PM

Running 30:00 [2] 3.75 mi (8:00 / mi)

11 min on the track at practice during w/ups, then 19 min at the Arboretum when I found out the tee time was 5:30 now (days are getting longer), instead of 5, for the golf league.
6 PM

Golfing 10:00 [1]

My tight hips became sore on the third hole (#1) and I took a ten. A couple more painful holes before things loosened back up. OB on 6 for an 8, so 50 overall - that hurt more than my hips.

Map Run 54:40 intensity: (36:40 @2) + (18:00 @4) 6.6 mi (8:17 / mi)

Ran on an old master map, from the beach parking lot at Mendon, after making sure that Linda and the Addison folks had gotten together.

Ran 6 x 3 minutes hard - the first four were mostly trail with some terrain, the 5th was trail plus road after I ran right off the map and the 6th was all in terrain (and very tough). Did 3 min easy between each plus 10 min before and almost 12 min back to the car.

This is my attempt to get Tuesdays back on "track".

Note
(rest day)

After track practice, decided to watch our next door neighbor play lax, instead of heading out for a run. I was able to see 8 of her 11 goals before I had to take off for a looooong Pastoral Council meeting.

Orienteering race 1:16:51 [4] 6.9 km (11:08 / km)

ROC meet at Dryer Road Park - Red Course.

I was finally able to make an ROC meet, and it was already the 3rd Club Series race (last one until fall, as the Sprint Series takes over).

Rough outing. Couldn't read the bike trails (too many), nor the contours (too many trail obscured them for my failing eyes). Biggest errors:
C1 - should have just charged ahead aggressively, but was afraid of going OB and getting lost.
C4 - went farther right than I thought after leaving trail, but tried to correct before I got to the trail, so relocating was futile.
C5 - thought I knew where I left the trail, within 100m of control, but ended up climbing, which shouldn't have happened, then just wandered, unable to relocate off the contours or the trail that I hit.
C7 - trail to left fork to bend went quite well, but couldn't read trails or contours and my bearing let me down and I couldn't really see the green at first.
C8 - this was the worst of all - thought I could see the near "corner" of the second part of the field above me, but was wrong, so spent too much time looking for a sharp curve short of the true destination.
C10 - was headed down a reentrant from just below the field that seemed to be on the line, but no sign of a reentrant on the map, so I kept stopping to find something else. I think I do see a bit of a form line on the map, now, right on the line.
C12 - stupidly took the little trail from the start of the little field, wasting time on curves. Then it was thick "white" to get over to the next trail.

Map Run 18:00 [2] 1.5 mi (12:00 / mi)

Control pickup (only had to do 4)
