Running 26:29 intensity: (19:15 @2) + (7:14 @3) 3.5 mi (7:34 / mi)
rhr:44 slept:5.0 weight:162lbs

Ran 8 minutes while the squad was warming up, did another 18:29 while they were warming down / striding / stretching. Included a 7:14 mile while I worked on quicker turnover. It is very difficult to sustain a quicker turnover because I notice my breathing is pegged to my cadence and I catch myself breathing very shallow to keep up with the quicker turnover.

I had the guys split into two groups today: the 800 guys plus the milers that lean that way, and the 3200/steeple guys plus the milers that lean that way.

The 800 guys did 2 x (400, 300, 500, 400), each rep finishing with the last 100 hard (800m pace rather than 1600m pace) with 2 min recovery (which they milked a little longer since I was busy with 5 groups total: 3 - 800 and 2 -3200) between reps and 1200m between sets. AJ was hitting around 63 pace, with Steve just a bit behind, then a bunch of others not too far back.

The 3200 guys did 5 x 1000 descending (4 for the frosh and Z) with same time recovery. nate took it a bit easy after his busy weekend, so Nico looked quite good (probably started under 3:15 and down).

Orienteering 30:00 [2] *** 2.5 km (12:00 / km)
spiked:8/9c slept:8.0

Picked the boys up from the Junior training camp at Blue Mountain Reservation. Got there in time to jump on a map from the morning(?) for 30 minutes. Did controls 1-6,10-12 of the Middle distance course.

Sleep includes the Saturday afternoon nap, to prepare for dinner at Outback with the in-laws.

Running 1:26:21 intensity: (1:15:06 @2) + (3:30 @3) + (7:45 @5) 11.13 mi (7:45 / mi)
slept:7.0

Running before, during and after Chelsea's crew race at Princeton. I ran from the boathouse across the river/lake and along the canal path to the start line, where the Princeton Openweight team was about to start with Brown and Ohio St. I saw the start, which was aborted because of Brown, shortly before the end of the start zone, so I continued on to the finish line. It was a 2K sprint, so I went back to the start (after seeing Princeton edge Brown) and saw the Lightweight Varsity 8 start and ran 1/2 mile at 7 min pace to see some of that race, then went back to the start for the 2nd Varsity 8 (Chelsea's race).

I figured they would go about 8 minutes, which is 20 minute / 5K pace, so I thought I could keep up and watch the race. After the start I took off, and it was tough to watch while they were even with me, so I let them get just a slight lead, and then it was a great way to watch the race. There was various brush along the canal path, so my view was occasionally obstructed, but overall it was quite good. The canal had posts every 1/2 mile, so I was able to see that I tossed in a 6:29 mile during the race. Chelsea's team went faster than I expected (7:47) and spent most of the race about 1/2 boat length behind Princeton, but Princeton sprinted better and won by 6 seconds. I'm not sure how that translates to boat lengths, since I remained a bit behind and the course took them closer to the other shore at the finish.

After the race, I continued on the canal path to the next bridge (not too far away) and over to the finish line, but Chris had already left, so I had to run back to the boathouse (2.85 miles, on the roads), turning this into my longest run since the marathon.

Running 25:55 [2] 2.27 mi (11:25 / mi)

Dropped the boys off at the Junior training camp at Blue Mountain Reservation near Peeksville. This is the first half of my run, before the battery starting to die caused some issues with the signal.

Running 19:05 [2] 1.89 mi (10:06 / mi)

This is the second part of the run. I ran 40 minutes, so there were a few minutes lost that I added on here, along with a little distance.

Running 10:08 intensity: (6:08 @2) + (4:00 @4) 1.32 mi (7:41 / mi)

Stopped for a brief run at Highland Park on the way to the FCH3 run. Picked it up after warming up.

Hashing 1:03:57 intensity: (57:57 @2) + (6:00 @4) 7.5 mi (8:32 / mi)

FCH3 from old Rochster Psych Center.

Went to the wrong building and there was not an easy way to get to the correct building, so although I saw folks on Elmwood as I drove in, they were out of sight after I parked.

It took me 24:28 to catch up to the pack at a stop. I started up Elmwood where I had last seen folks, cut thru the park, did a loop, found nothing, so headed over South to May to Mt. Hope. Didn't find anything all the way to the main cemetery entrance, so I cut thru Highland Park to Highland, where I picked up trail a bit past the crosswalk. I managed a couple of good 3-minute pickups.

Next section was 23:42 of running, but we apparently took an accidental short cut and got to the On Home mark too early. Then did another 15:47 of running and found the pack again, as they walked up South N of the hospital. Mostly walked on the way back.

Slow after not swimming for a couple of weeks. Last 100 showed that I can dig a little deeper, if needed to pass someone in the next lane.
