Orienteering 3:20:08 intensity: (9:58 @0) + (3:04:21 @1) + (3:31 @2) + (2:15 @3) + (3 @4) 7.13 mi (28:04 / mi) +235m 25:28 / mi
ahr:89 max:140 weight:173lbs

Followed Sheewee around the Durand West permanent course, doing some coaching as she has just started orienteering. She did quite well and I was able to give her some good pointers as we cleared the whole course - I didn't think she'd want to go that long (as our route choice shows).

Orienteering 1:28:03 intensity: (1 @0) + (31:50 @1) + (9:09 @2) + (9:11 @3) + (26:23 @4) + (11:29 @5) 5.71 mi (15:25 / mi) +52m 15:00 / mi
ahr:126 max:167 weight:173lbs

Finally had the stars align to allow me to get to the Webster Park course. I messed up #6 quite badly, but otherwise was OK, which is a sad commentary on my running speed now.

Took the day completely off - didn't even go for a walk.

7 PM

Orienteering 1:10:50 intensity: (12:54 @1) + (6:10 @2) + (12:26 @3) + (35:43 @4) + (3:37 @5) 4.46 mi (15:53 / mi) +72m 15:07 / mi
ahr:136 max:174 weight:174lbs

With the rain falling and a missing color ink for our printer, I had to defer Webster Park again, so I went down and did some of the Mendon permanent course in the rain. At least it was kind of warm for a change.

Golfing 45:00 [1] 2.0 mi (22:30 / mi)
weight:173lbs

Finally back out on the golf course for our first practice week. Shot at 52 without ever actually making a putt (picked up under 3 feet) into the holes with upside-down cups. Had to carry my clubs since I couldn't find my pull-cart; I should have started looking before 4:45pm ahead of a 5:20 tee time.

Hashing 1:07:18 intensity: (6:09 @1) + (10:52 @2) + (19:54 @3) + (25:58 @4) + (4:25 @5) 4.49 mi (14:59 / mi) +58m 14:25 / mi
ahr:136 max:163 weight:173lbs

Was planning on doing the Webster Park competition today, but there was a ghost trail set at Northampton Park that wouldn't hold up thru the coming rain, so I had to head that way instead, where I found two SSs, and caught up to VM on trail.

Monday Apr 27, 2020 #

5 PM

Walking 57:29 intensity: (57:28 @1) + (1 @3) 3.55 mi (16:12 / mi)
ahr:90 max:110 weight:172lbs

It was actually nice enough to bike today, but the tires were low enough that I didn't want to go out on them. I couldn't find our pump, but I remembered the powered pump in the Mustang trunk. Unfortunately, the car battery is dead and the key doesn't open the trunk (I can't remember why), so I just went for a walk instead.

Orienteering 1:31:59 intensity: (28:12 @1) + (19:01 @2) + (19:15 @3) + (24:58 @4) + (33 @5) 5.02 mi (18:19 / mi) +155m 16:43 / mi
ahr:126 max:161 weight:173lbs

Was going to race the Webster Park course today, but the weather was so miserable, I decided to do the Durand East permanent course. Planned to clear the course, but after 16 of the 22 controls, enough water had gotten inside my screen protector that I couldn't get the map back up on the screen, which was a shame because I didn't save much distance by coming straight back. I'm tired of our lousy April weather this year!

Biking 49:38 intensity: (22:41 @1) + (23:11 @2) + (3:19 @3) + (27 @4) 9.57 mi (5:11 / mi) +35m 5:08 / mi
ahr:119 max:151 weight:172lbs

Slow ride with lots of excuses (yes I'm probably out of shape for biking) such as it seemed the wind kept being in my face and the tires were low with no standard pump to be found.

Hashing 43:10 intensity: (21:33 @1) + (5:34 @2) + (3:50 @3) + (6:39 @4) + (5:34 @5) 3.16 mi (13:40 / mi) +56m 12:57 / mi
ahr:125 max:161 weight:173lbs

FCH3 Ghost Trail set by SheeWee. Nice tour of Mt Hope cemetery. I think I was the second one on trail. It looked like VM may have gone early enough to spot the hare on trail.

Orienteering 1:41:33 intensity: (11 @0) + (54:34 @1) + (19:28 @2) + (15:15 @3) + (11:24 @4) + (41 @5) 4.6 mi (22:05 / mi) +201m 19:26 / mi
ahr:116 max:159 weight:173lbs

Back to Durand Eastman, this time to do part of the western permanent course from the golf course parking lot. I continue to struggle with reading the map on my phone and gave up trying to estimate distances at all.

Orienteering 1:17:22 intensity: (42:47 @1) + (15:14 @2) + (11:33 @3) + (7:42 @4) + (6 @5) 3.64 mi (21:15 / mi) +118m 19:19 / mi
ahr:114 max:152 weight:173lbs

There is a new training course at Durand (thanks Rick & Linda!), so I went over there after work today. Sadly, my phone died on the way to C12 - I didn't know Durand could be a battery-sucking location like Webster Park, so I should have been in airplane mode. I knew the rough location of 12, but didn't spot it, then went to where I thought 13 was, but I think I needed to go farther north. I had not looked ahead to the last 2 controls, so I just ran in. I'll have to try again sometime.

Out for another neighborhood walk while Christine's lasagna cooked.

Hashing 49:39 intensity: (4:05 @1) + (14:16 @2) + (11:45 @3) + (18:29 @4) + (1:04 @5) 3.32 mi (14:57 / mi) +115m 13:30 / mi
ahr:134 max:166 weight:171lbs

CBH3 Rona trail from the Hopkins Point park entrance at Mendon Ponds. An early check had me find later trail backwards. When I saw the arrow in the wrong direction, I knew something was up. Eventually I found true trail and carried on. Only saw 1 of 2 promised BNs, which apparently was decorative only. Surprised to see no one else at the parking lot before or after.

Orienteering 1:42:20 intensity: (1:22:39 @1) + (10:22 @2) + (5:57 @3) + (3:22 @4) 3.92 mi (26:06 / mi) +158m 23:12 / mi
ahr:104 max:144 weight:171lbs

Luke and I went down to Rattlesnake but we got separated blasting thru the green on the way to the first control, so I didn't see him again. I could not find the cairn for #4 even though it should have been easy, just 150m(?) or so from the property corner that I came from, parallel to a stream. My biggest problem was that I had no idea what the scale on my phone was. The north lines did not seem 500m apart, so I couldn't measure anything. Also did not find #5, which also should have been pretty easy as I found where the stream and ditch left the road. By that time, I just had to head in and do the last 4 controls.

Had a nice socially-distant visit with Walt and Patty afterwards.

Walking 34:31 intensity: (43 @0) + (33:47 @1) + (1 @2) 2.01 mi (17:10 / mi)

Just a short walk today as we plan to go longer at Rattlesnake Hill tomorrow.

Running 43:07 intensity: (6 @0) + (1:27 @1) + (3:13 @2) + (6:03 @3) + (5:51 @4) + (26:27 @5) 3.67 mi (11:45 / mi) +65m 11:08 / mi
ahr:147 max:171 weight:173lbs

Non-stop run from the Big Field. Easy to social distance today as there was almost nobody out on the trails, kept away by the sub-40 temps or King Cuomo's arbitrary rules?
