Orienteering 1:22:45 intensity: (27:10 @1) + (22:34 @2) + (21:49 @3) + (10:58 @4) + (14 @5) 4.18 mi (19:48 / mi) +26m 19:26 / mi

Since I still haven't found my bike pump, I got the small compressor out of the trunk of the car and tried to use it to pump up the tires; however, it had picked up some corrosion. I was able to clean the contacts for the car lighter socket to get the power to flow, but the lever to close the seal was also corroded and I couldn't get it to move. So, biking was out.

Instead, I took my phone with the Webster Park permanent course to the Whiting Road lot, and knocked off most of the course. I was so excited to check a trail that I had not been on before, that I forgot about one control in the northwest, then really struggled with finding the pit with #20. Another beautiful evening to be out, and I saw almost nobody - just a guy with his dog over on a private trail early, then about a half-dozen teens 2/3 thru, and some campers - all but one who were at the 4 lots closest to the back campground trail, so I had to go around.

Hashing 35:01 intensity: (3:30 @1) + (4:31 @2) + (9:09 @3) + (7:06 @4) + (10:45 @5) 2.25 mi (15:34 / mi) +122m 13:19 / mi
ahr:140 max:177 weight:170lbs

OTD set a ghost trail at Powder Mills Park yesterday, so Nate and I took advantage of the opportunity to get out on a beautiful afternoon. Fairly short trail, but included plenty of climb and the cumulative effect of the last few days has added up. VM finished a bit after we did, then SWH showed up to do the trail with a friend.

Saturday May 23 #

Orienteering 1:25:48 intensity: (11:45 @1) + (26:03 @2) + (23:23 @3) + (16:50 @4) + (7:47 @5) 4.34 mi (19:46 / mi) +241m 16:52 / mi
ahr:132 max:174 weight:171lbs

Nate and I drove down to do the Sol-O at Harriet Hollister. Nate gave me a several minute head start, and didn't catch me (probably due to his error on 5), but did beat me. Walt and Patty got there ahead of us and I passed them on the way down the hill to C6.

The mapper left many good features off the map, such as the rockpile that I saw leaving the trail to C1, the boulder I saw going up to C2 (or 3?), and the fairly large flat ruin right on the line from C3 to C4.

But I was worse than the mapper, leaving several minutes on the course, with the most frustrating being the short legs where I tried to run and use the contours instead of the compass.

ahr:134 max:150 weight:172lbs

Another FCH3 hash trail with Nate down around the canal. Plenty of marks this time, so we got around quite quickly.

Running 52:54 intensity: (2 @0) + (1:05 @1) + (8:29 @2) + (26:33 @3) + (16:24 @4) + (21 @5) 3.77 mi (14:02 / mi) +194m 12:06 / mi
ahr:136 max:161 weight:172lbs

6 min jog / 1 min walk at Ellison Wetlands - went out to Old Browncroft on the low road and came back on the high road. Had to walk part of a couple of steep hills in the last 8 minutes or so, as I was getting worn out. Did walk righ past a snake - noticed it when it slithered on some dry leaves next to the trail.

The weather was great, but my golf was awful - 10 strokes worse than last week - 53.

Tuesday May 19 #

weight:170lbs (rest day)

No workout today, but I did get in over 10,000 steps walking around EA as part of Walt's birthday celebration.

Hashing 1:04:12 intensity: (11:29 @1) + (15:16 @2) + (19:11 @3) + (8:14 @4) + (10:02 @5) 3.86 mi (16:38 / mi) +1m 16:37 / mi
ahr:134 max:186 weight:170lbs

Another day of pandemic, another trail! FRB set the CBH3 trail for this month, and it was well done. Nate joined me for the trip through a little bit of everything.

Sunday May 17 #

Hashing 1:25:59 intensity: (32:43 @1) + (20:55 @2) + (10:19 @3) + (18:33 @4) + (3:29 @5) 4.31 mi (19:57 / mi) +140m 18:07 / mi
ahr:125 max:166 weight:172lbs

Did the RH3 ghost trail with Nate at Durand Eastman, from a residential entrance that I had not used before.

Saturday May 16 #

Orienteering 1:14:02 intensity: (3:56 @1) + (23:07 @2) + (20:42 @3) + (17:25 @4) + (8:52 @5) 4.44 mi (16:41 / mi) +121m 15:22 / mi
ahr:136 max:172 weight:174lbs

Nate and I drove over to Chestnut Ridge to do their Sol-O event. He gave me too much of a head start so he never caught me. We were able to hang out with Walt and Patty for a while after finishing, and the sun came out for most of that, making for a very nice day!

Friday May 15 #

5 PM

Running 37:35 intensity: (8:04 @1) + (5:01 @2) + (5:32 @3) + (9:24 @4) + (9:34 @5) 3.11 mi (12:05 / mi) +1m 12:04 / mi
ahr:134 max:164 weight:173lbs

Since it was raining a bit, I didn't want to walk, but since I ran an O course yesterday and I want to run at Chestnut Ridge tomorrow, I settled on basically 2 min slow jog, 2 min moderate jog, 3 min walk cycles. Had to add on a bit because the original loop would have been about 2.66.
