Nate and I went down and did the latest training course at Mendon. It was an excellent training course and I had to focus the whole time. Forgot it was 1:7500 at the beginning, and was totally messed up going to 6. 13 and 20 errors were just not seeing the tape for some reason.

Nate and I tried to do the ghost trail at Durand, but it was a complete mess from the start. I think it had been marked mostly with tape, but most of the tape had been taken down, so we were sometimes on trail, mostly not, and sometimes going forward, but mostly going backward.

Drove over to Sprague Brook with Nate, where Walt and Patty met us with fresh 2020 Map Hike maps. We knocked off 13 of the controls with excellent navigation with just two slight misses.

ROC Solo-O Long Advanced at Mendon. Walt and Patty drove over from EA to do the course and printed out an extra map for me. Luckily they left it in a map bag because it rained after they left their car, and again as I arrived. I punched #3 just after they had arrived at the same control as #8. Was clean until I didn't look at my compass going into #7 and not only went off the wrong spur looking for the reentrant, but went the wrong way after that. Other real mistake was going to #13 but that was because the clue said spur, so I went to the spur, and coming down I had to backtrack towards where I had come from. I also lost time going to 13 because I went around to the field; in a real meet I would have gone straighter. 15-16 was also of questionable fairness because the current conditions apparently don't match the map - some people were able to go straight, but I had to bail when the OK part on the map was quite wet, so I assumed the bluer section would be a problem.
I was able to have a socially-distant drink after finishing,
Practice round with Frank at Webster. No outlook for starting the league officially as it will require carts to be available for our overweight league members. Shot a 46 with a bird on 16 and then left a 5-footer for bird short on 17.
