Orienteering race 1:59:16 [3] 10.41 mi (11:27 / mi) +452m 10:06 / mi

Great time in the woods today. Not too much going wrong:

3: Through woods instead of path just to the north, and going to the wrong cliff first.
6: No good attack point, so not finding the control right away.
16: The control codes for 16 and 17 were switched, so some hesitation before punching.
19: Going off path too early but found another control that helped me relocate.

I felt strong for most of the course. I had Tim with me for most of the course, trailing behind me at a variable distance. I think he is generally a better runner than me so I was surprised when I was able to pull away from him at the uphill to 21.

I was also very happy to beat my nemesis Ben today. He was ahead of me for most of the course, but did a slight error on 19 and I was able to pass.

Not that it was a very hard course, but I did very well technically today and AP is telling me that I lost the least of the field today, even besting PG.

I was wondering too at what age you get to compete in the Masters category, since Tim won that category though he was a little bit behind me. I assume that I am not too far off from that being 36 years old.

I can't forget that my dad (age 68) did very well today as well, finishing at spot 24, well ahead of many younger people. Fantastic considering that it was his first event in the US and he had just flown in last night.

Medium loop. Need to get back to speed training. I have signed up for the indoor track and that starts in two weeks.
