Back Stretches 15:00 [3]

Before and right after O, a practice I need to keep up with
11 AM

Orienteering 52:34 [4] 3.0 mi (17:31 / mi) +367ft 15:42 / mi
weight:114.2lbs shoes: Salomon Speedcross 3 - Blue

Warwick Green, Beautiful Day! I guess I am a "fair weather" orienteer. :)

Even though the splits say I lost almost 2 min of time on 5, I was going slow on purpose to not fall going downhill, then hit the charcoal terrace by the trail, and then the next charcoal terrace a bit in from the path, which had a control for another course. So I was pleased with hitting this one dead on, probably the hardest control of the day (still not that hard.) However, managed to stink 6 up and get pulled to the left seeing other people in the woods. So, went to 7 first, ran to 6, ran back to 7.

This was where Svetlana and I were side by side, and I started to feel really competitive. She would find a control first, then I would find a control first, but I was very good about doing my own orienteering (having had the lesson earlier of being pulled by other people with bad consequences.) This is a great takeaway for me getting ready for WP - do my own orienteering, don't get pulled by other people in the woods (but use them when it's helpful like if they're right near a control, obviously.) Svetlana was so sweet and even offered me a drink at the water stop. Then she proceeded to shoot by me on the long trail run in! :) However, because she made a mistake on #5, I ended up winning by just a little. It was nice to have some camaraderie and compare route choices later. Yesterday, I got an email from Bob Burg saying that he was happy that he "edged me out" on Green. Geez. Ouch. :) (He was actually just writing to say he had an article for the BP)

All in all a great day in the woods and I was super happy to see both Hughs do well and to have my old O pal back in the car with me.

Back Stretches 15:00 [3]

Also, totally cleaned the car out, vacuumed and wiped out. It's ready for tomorrow's passengers, and for next weekend (Sandy, although we haven't talked about it I'm assuming you will be my passenger, so I want it to be clean for you!) Still needs an outside wash, though...

Back Stretches 15:00 [3]

Big Day today. The show at PAFA with my floral piece opens tomorrow and goes through Sunday.

See it sooner, rather than later, when everything is still fresh!

Thanks to my support team!

My body really wanted to run for like 6 miles but my back didn't. Still, this felt okay and I took it really slow.
