Red course set by Rich. First 5 controls were memory.
I sucked on these of course. After that it was nice except getting my feet and than frozen afterward. Lots of clump grass to run through which sucks with cold feet.

5k Race in Crystal Lake, Il
It was called Panting for Paws. All about a no kill shelter. Only reason I drove an hour to get here in 20 degree temps and 15 mph winds.
Looks like a local XC course that had accurate mile markers and was on limestone ( frozen ) trail. No wind break!
Started slow and cold, but warmed up during the race.
Another great workout!
I could not help myself when it’s the season and that nasty stuff is just standing there saying come get me. But once you start it just keeps going and going. I’m gonna get it all someday.

Had a meeting about putting on instruction at a ROTC school next Monday.
Patrick had an old map of Bong Rec area that I have set courses on before as I was responsible for the map made and live closest of any O person around.
The map was two sided with a sprint and a Madnaess race. The courses were from August 6 2011. I did both courses, and of course some of the weeds were 7 ft tall and nasty thickets. I found where most of the controls should of been, but this has always been a crummy map. It rained so much yesterday the trails were pools of water in spots. However I made it through and enjoyed running with a map in my hands.
All this because I wimped out of a local meet yesterday, pouring rain, cold temps and not wanting to drive 2.5 hours in the rain.
