Sprint event and I ran M-21 ha ha. Just got extra distance. A short control in a thick marsh was my main down fall. But finally a real nice sunny day!!

Middle Earth Long event. I was doing well until I made 2 mistakes going to 11. Instead of taking the big trail to the east, I took a minor trail to the west that would run into the eastern trail. Well I messed that up and on the approach offthe trail I dived in too soon. Losing 5+ minutes on this control.i got a little shaky on two more controls near the end.
This was a very cool Redwood forest with lots of trails tourists and ferns.
Very middle earth!

Hiking 3:00:00 [3] 12.0 mi (15:00 / mi)
shoes: Silver Solomon

2 different hikes up from where we are staying in Rotoura. Like hiking in a fern forest. Super clean and clear water in the lake and streams. Weather is cool and the warm sun is welcome. A bit more then I should on a day off, but always good to be out.

Middle distance event. From the road we were watching all these runners either go straight up or around a big hill. After control 2 I knew I did it have that route on my course whew! This was a lot like Wyoming with open areas and rock cliffs and ledges. But this area was hit days earlier by Cyclone Cook. So it was super muddy and slippery. Really fun fast paced run except on no 13 I went through the cliff rock area when I should of stayed low. Lost a few minutes. I think maybe the mud on my map didn't help either. Fun downhill finish to the go control. This is the kind of terrain I like more than the jungle stuff.

Relay race with Team Chaos, Rick Breseman and Rich were the other members of the team.
I ran leg 3
It rained on and off the whole morning. I mean it rained then the sun came out and then it changed. At the last second I took off my rain visor. BIG Mistake.
It poured on me after I started. It was like the night O with a pen flashlight all over again. Once again some really tough terrain and handicapped with wet reading glasses that hurt visibility if the map.
I finished but was not proud of my stupidity.

Oceania Long event. Well the walk to the start was totally thick jungle woods.
I was careful at first but trying to get no 3 was really tough in this jungle type terrain.
I had to relocate to the road and go back in to get it. 6 min lost ouch.
Then 5,6,7. Were in this dense area with fallen logs and poor visibility. Bailed out to a trail to get no 7
Way off on 9 and then this became survival. Fortunately the last 4 control were in a totally different area that was actually quite nice woods.
This was a very tough area with low visibility in spots.
