Orienteering Meet race 1:01:18 [5] *** 6.0 km (10:13 / km) +240m 8:31 / km
spiked:21/22c shoes: Icebug #4's

Scotland 6 day event day 1

Somebody I knew started 1 min behind me and caught me at the first control and the battle was on. He still beat me in by 4 seconds, but was fun going head to head with him.
We each took different route choices and still ended up so close.
The map a decent amount of marshs and the flys were hovering during the run in the open areas.
We did not arrive and set up camp to very late 1:00 by Sweden time.
6000 entrants I heard.
This was Fun!
Walked into Inverness in the afternoon, cool places to eat including a Jamaican place I will have to try.

Orienteering Meet race 1:09:23 [5] *** 5.1 km (13:36 / km) +240m 11:01 / km
spiked:12/13c shoes: Icebug #4's

Last day WMOC. I ended up in C final.
Had a decent run and broke 70 minutes.
Felt way more comfortable with the terrain here and wish it would keep going. Still slow running through the clumpy marshes and mini cliffs that are some what steep.
Tried to take trails when I could.
Ankle/foot issue seems to get better bit by bit, not sure why, but I am not complaining.

On to merry old Scotland!

Orienteering Meet race 1:10:43 [5] *** 5.4 km (13:06 / km) +270m 10:29 / km
ahr:148 max:172 spiked:14/16c shoes: Icebug #4's

WMOC Q2
I had a leisurely 1:00pm start.
Rain held off for the most part, though it looked like it could rain any time.

Could be my best run of the 2 weeks!!

Stayed in contact most of the way, way dryer then yesterday.

Well now the bad, they had a rope down to the third control that was a slim reentrant between cliffs. I slipped before getting my hand on the rope and slid hard hitting my butt hard, ( sometimes a good kick in the ass will work wonders) scrapping my side, arms and leg. Shook it off and continued on. Sore and beat up later in the afternoon.

Look for maps from today and yesterday on Chicago clubs facebook page.
I don't think you need to be on facebook to go and look. Enjoy!

Orienteering Meet race 1:22:29 [4] *** 4.9 km (16:50 / km)
spiked:8/10c shoes: Icebug #4's

WMOC day 1 qualification. Super long leg to the first leg took 26 min.
Really wet day, and it was raining hard at the start, but did stop when I started running.
Lots of slogging through marshs, streams and high wet grass.
Another fun day in Sweden!

Maps of my courses are posted on Chicago Area Orienteering clubs facebook site. Much easier to do then AP.

Orienteering Related 1:04:00 [3] *** 4.0 mi (16:00 / mi)
spiked:10/12c shoes: Icebug #4's

Model map, just a short tram ride away. These woods are tough with lots of chance to lose contact if you go to fast. Plan for tomorrow is to go slow and steady with no mistakes :-)

Orienteering Meet race 26:37 [5] *** 2.5 km (10:39 / km)
spiked:12/13c shoes: Solomon black

Sprint final. B group. Missed A final by 5 seconds and 4 places.
Things were going good until they threw a wooded control in a vague area with slippery flat rock. 11 minutes later... Maybe I should learn to read a map....I had no attackpoint or plan. Just though I would nail it.. Not.
So not much heart or energy to finish hard.
