Orienteering Meet race 43:37 [5] *** 3.6 km (12:07 / km) +140m 10:09 / km
spiked:14/17c

US MIDDLE CHAMPS Chattahoochee Bend St Park. Nice meet, short lengths to controls, a bit of climb and even with no major miscues, I ended up 3rd US in my age group. Other had 39 and 40 minutes for the same course. A bit too careful after yesterday. Seemed like lots of good map features to read to get to controls. Mainly flat rock areas that were great nav aides.
Overall great weekend with seeing lots of O friends, great comp and much better woods than the model event. The event was well organized and with the expectation of hearing of injuries from putting foot in a hole ( I did that a couple of times) and the airport mess later in the afternoon, which I missed, good time!

Orienteering Meet race 1:19:44 [5] *** 7.7 km (10:21 / km) +70m 9:54 / km
spiked:12/13c

Could of would of should of. US LONG O CHAMPS at Chattahoochee Bend St. Park. This area used was a food plain, so flat areas, but overall nice woods to run in. only was tripped 4 times by low vines. I blew the first control, which was a long leg. I just wanted to head away fro the marsh and headed way to far and when I was looking for a dirt road, I hit paved road and went brain dead thinking this was the road I wanted. I lost 10 minutes on this leg and that cost me 2nd place at least.
The rest of the course went fairly well so a positive on that.
So on to the next meet tomorrow YEA!

Orienteering Meet race 22:13 [5] *** 3.0 km (7:24 / km) +105m 6:18 / km
spiked:16/18c

US Sprint Champs down here at U of West Georgia. A campus sprint, with little to no wooded sections. I lost a lot of time at no 1, cuz I could not see it from above, so I went all the way around the bushes and than into the control. On no 5 it was a tunnel like between two buildings and I did not see the control so I went around and hit it. But I watched a couple of young guys climb a black line over a wall to get the control....interesting that it was wrong to climb the wall and have heard that some others had done it, even some winners of some courses. Check out BL log for pic of the illegally climbed wall.
Overall third by 5 seconds from fourth and 20 seconds from 2nd. Nice weather for the upcoming weekend.

Orienteering Related 1:06:00 [2] *** 3.0 km (22:00 / km)
spiked:8/9c

Model/practice area at chattahoochee bend st park. Well the woods were pretty thick and scratchy. Seemed like my kind of ridge and valley, but the real courses are much flatter. Did I say thick....might be slow courses if this is the type of woods we run in.

Track team did a one hour jog-a-thon. I did 28 laps. So boring running on the track so long, but training just the same.
