Orienteering Meet race 31:09 [5] *** 3.9 km (7:59 / km) +85m 7:12 / km
spiked:11/11c

Cuivre River State Park. What a day for a run and this is why we came down here. These woods were fantastic, open and fast. Perfect weather again, making two weekends in a row.
Not one real mistake and BP and I were 6 seconds apart. Of course some one else ran a sub 30. Great to have the Chicago flag fly at the meet, with 11 runners from our club there. Perfect weather and almost perfect run. The legs were a bit tired from yesterday/last night.
Now on to the corn maze.

Orienteering Related 23:03 [4] *** 1.5 mi (15:22 / mi)

Corn Maze!!! Not knowing what to expect it was fun. A lot like ski orienteering as there were very short trails and junctions to move around. Kinda wanted to cheat and short cut , but not in the rules, so you had to go way around the maze of trails to get to the control.Great weather still and tomorrow should be the same.

Orienteering Meet race 18:39 [5] *** 2.2 km (8:29 / km)
spiked:10/11c

Sprint at Cuivre River. I started a minute after Maricel and he then passed me. I tried beating him to two. He was moving slow. On the way to 4 he went towards 7 I ignored him and moved on. He caught up to me on 5 and I blew 6 as I tried a around the horn move that messed me up. Oops. Finished up and listed as unknown as I was supposed to run green course.

Orienteering Meet race 1:08:00 intensity: (38:00 @4) + (30:00 @5) *** 5.0 km (13:36 / km) +150m 11:50 / km

Night O Champs Cuivre River State Park, Troy Missouri.Started out ok, on 2 it was a long leg and I had to check the reentrant to the east first. On 5 I hit 6 first. No one around me as I started early. So that was really nice, to. be out with no distractions. Long leg to 9 and I did well on the nav. 11 had so much junk in what looked like white woods. So I struggled to get through and took the power line back to the go control, out of the way but fast? Overall a bit sloppy.
Looks like I was 2nd in my age group.

Great run at the trails across from Parkside Ski trail. Tuesday night run with Mark. These are knarly single track trails and it was dark. Magic Shine to the rescue for light. Really a neat area to run and along the river big salmon were heading up river to spawn.

Orienteering Meet race 1:11:21 [5] *** 6.3 km (11:20 / km) +190m 9:50 / km
spiked:13/15c

Us Long O champs. Well I started out ok, but on the 3rd control I was short and had to relocate a bit on an easy control. On the way to 5 I was stuck to my chest on the muck trying to pull my self out of it. Kinda like quick sand. So I was totally soaked and muddy. On the long leg to 7 it was a maze of trails to get there. The whole race I felt I was not taking the best route choices. And the big bonehead move was heading to 12, I went out of my way to go to 2 and then realizing that this was a place I had been before. Just plain dumb and so was 14 as it seemed there were lots of trails headed to the control and I just could not pick the right one.
I did end up fourth, about 4 minutes out of 3rd. Maybe too much beer and Dancing the night before in celebration, Or just plain dumb.

Awesome too see the creme da la creme of orienteer's out this weekend.

Fun weekend and great event put on by CSU.
