Well, it's a month with a "r" in it, so 1) it's oyster season and 2) Katherine is sick. And I don't even like oysters that much, so...
In other news, Oregon Ridge is a nice park, but holy moly my body was not ready for mid-80s temps today. Especially since it snowed last week. I also definitely chose poorly on my footwear- spent the first couple controls slipping and falling more than I like to. Anyway, lost a few seconds of time on the way to 1, just trying to get into the map and missed the trail I intended to take, so went around and attacked from the bottom of the re-entrant. Slipped and fell quite hard on the way to 2, mostly bruising my ego, but my ankle is a little sore today (Monday), so might have twisted it a bit in the process. No issues going to 3, but already extremely dehydrated (despite drinking a large water in the morning and then another on the drive up). Didn't feel any better after drinking some water at 4, and by then my head was starting to hurt and my hands were swelling, so I skipped 5, and went straight to 6. 6 was in the junky, logged area of the park, but no real issues, just moving slow from the heat. 7 was easy as well, but then on the trail from 7 to 8, things really didn't feel like they were lining up the way I expected. Saw a control as I was getting close to the end, but again, couldn't really make sense of the map and trails in the area, but it was my control, so at that point I kind of said "oh well", punched and moseyed on to the finish. Drank a lot more water at the finish, ate some salty crackers, and eventually felt a little better, but I really should have just carried some water on the course. Glad I wasn't trying to tote Katherine around with me today, too.
