orienteering race 31:02 [3] **** 6.0 km (5:10 / km) +140m 4:38 / km
shoes: Inov8 X-Talon 212 (#3)

Aus Middle Distance

Applied a few lessons from BOC - went out really hard and tried to concentrate the whole way round.

Lost about 70" at two controls: #8, where I just didn't/couldn't read the rock, then #11 where I contoured, came out too low but thought I was too high. I wasn't on my own doing that (and I wasn't on my own on the course by then, Jemery and I having re-unified at #10).

2nd to Tim Hatley by a minute in a very tight-packed field.

orienteering race 46:56 [3] *** 8.0 km (5:52 / km) +240m 5:06 / km
shoes: Inov8 X-Talon 212 (#3)

WA Long Champs M50A
Caught Jemery at #2, then together for the rest of the course. A couple of small mistakes, I think (don't have map), we got good value from each other by racing hard round the track option on one of the route choices.

Forest had great visibility for most of the course. Hardest legs were probably the ones where we crossed a large vague area and had to relocate to get an attackpoint. Got lucky on those.

First win over Jimbo. Ali C-W hiding on M45 chasing Bill, Greg won M40 at about the same speed.

Happy about the taper, think I have that down pat. Ankle had one bout of misbehaviour after I finished.

10km cycle loop on Rottnest with the family, including T & H. Lyra was on a singlespeed and was pretty reluctant at first, but knocked it off OK, with a small hand up some hills.
