orienteering race 21:07 [4] *** 3.5 km (6:02 / km)
shoes: Inov8 X-Talon 212 (#2)

A little messy - didn't even hit the bridge out of the start.
Lost most time on 16 & 17, completely bamboozled by the height of both controls, had forgotten what I learnt the first time here.

That was fun but.
7 AM

run 37:14 [3] 5.67 km (6:34 / km) +114m 5:58 / km
shoes: Asics GT 1000

Morning run - legs felt a bit heavy and it got fairly humid for the last 1/3 of the run.

cycling (commute) 23:00 [3] 8.0 km (2:53 / km)

run 53:15 [3] 8.0 km (6:39 / km) +234m 5:48 / km
shoes: Asics Gel 1170

Run home - very hot & sweaty - got someone watering his garden and toddlers to spray me with his hose.

cycling (commute) 50:00 [3] 16.0 km (3:08 / km) +110m 3:01 / km

Hot even on the ride in, before 8am. On the way home I waited until an afternoon shower had dropped the temperature from 36 to 26.

orienteering race 40:00 [4] * 7.5 km (5:20 / km) +100m 5:00 / km
shoes: Asics GT 1000

SSS LC NP.
Went out hard, but by the time I got near the finish I'd lost the enthusiasm to push on and just jogged back the last bit, could have picked up a few more points, I guess.

orienteering race 35:44 [4] *** 5.5 km (6:30 / km) +100m 5:57 / km
shoes: Inov8 X-Talon 212 (#2)

Xmas 5 days - day 5, Macquarie Woods.
Missed my start, so I didn't get to go head-to-head around the loops.

Pretty clean run, blew #11, v similar to yesterday's mistake, run hard up a hill, over a ridge, then attack too hard, missing and blundering off too low and to the right. Maybe I need to do some specialist training for this leg type :)

Shingo made an even bigger misscake, letting Rob Vibcent win again !

Looks like I had a bad route choice to #15 - 1:09 v Rob's 32"... oh no, #14 is the control that got moved part way through. That explains the diff.

orienteering race 35:10 [4] **** 5.0 km (7:02 / km) +110m 6:20 / km
shoes: Inov8 X-Talon 212 (#2)

Xmas 5 Days, day 4.
Fairly clean run, physically a bit slow to get going. Thought I'd had a clean run to 9 (uphill leg into mining), and anticipated the problems with that leg, but never came up with a strategy to attack the control and blundered past it into the mining detail.

Blew another chance to knock off Rob Vincent - he was running third at that stage behind Simeon Burill and me. Simeon blew 13 letting us both past.
