EX2 Bushwhacker Race - registered.

Orienteering race 1:09:54 [4]

Bushwhacker Race - shook off any hangers on within about the first 600 meters of the first rough O section leaving the start at Hemlock Overlook so ran my own race from there on, pushing fairly hard just in case there was a blazing fast runner coming up from behind to latch on to me during the off-trail navigation required on the best routes once the course reached the edge of the Fountainhead map. None such materialised so I didn't get to try out any tactics for shaking a determined pursuer. Assuming the race takes place next year (numbers have apparently been flat, even slightly dropping, as of its inauguration but maybe the writer who was there on behalf of Runner's World will have what he writes up accepted for publication and provide a boost), perhaps there will be a contingent trying out Follow Jon as a race strategy and I'll get to test my wiles then. In any case, a comfortable victory by just over 7 minutes with QOCers generally running very well - Peggy 3rd woman overall and other QOC men taking the first four positions in M45-49. Though I feel for David Onkst being second at the last checkpoint before the finish and then apparently hitting some really awful unmapped deadfall, contributing to his dropping to I think 5th overall at the finish.

Addendum: the post-race masseuse said I'm extremely tight. Which may be good for running performance but I think I'm probably a bit too stiff recently. Will have to work on that in the months to come.

Orienteering race 44:40 [3]

QOC NOD event at Lake Accotink - 26 control score O. Already quite stiff and fairly sore from the morning's effort, I didn't run this at all agressively, just have a nice time in the woods on a lovely day. Surprisingly large turnout had us recycling maps when I arrived a bit more than half an hour before the announced start window end.

Need to add Lake Accotink to my list of maps that could be significantly improved even without a redone base map with a relatively small effort to update the trail network, survey new and no longer so new rootstocks, etc.

Run Geek Run 8K? Bull-Eagle X-country 5K?

Cycling 45:00 [2]

To cross country race then to TPSS and dropping my bike off at the bike shop near work.

Running 18:59 [5]

Bulldog-Eagle Cross Country 5K - small but enjoyable race on the grounds of St Anselm's Abbey and School in NE DC. 4th overall, outsprinted at the end by the race director, a very lean 45 year old.
