Cycling 46:00 [4]

Cycling out to Bowie quickly since I'd offered to be on hand for beginner instruction or whatever during the early rush.

Orienteering race 1:13:07 [4] 7.2 km (10:09 / km)

QOC Bowie Blue.

Cycling 1:14:00 [3]

Cycling from Bowie to Little Paint Branch Park for an invasive plant identification and removal session (spent two hours pulling mostly wavyleaf basketgrass but also some Japanese stiltgrass up by the roots) then to the Greenbelt Metro.

Note

Arlington 911 5K. Web site now says 6pm though I swear it used to say 9am. Club Team Challenge - top 3 finishers score. Given that the race turns out to be an early evening rather than an early morning affair, invasive plant removal session at Greenbelt from 11am to 3pm is out. Fortunately, there'll be a similar thing taking place at Little Paint Branch Park late Sunday afternoon.

Running race 17:27 [5] 5.0 km (3:29 / km)

9-11 Memorial 5K in very windy but not rainy conditions. Third overall since two of the runners ahead of me were from the Pacers Racing Team and apparently weren't running officially.

Didn't want to be idle but didn't want to run the evening before a 5K, despite leg now feeling fine, so flutterkicking again. Found my goggles on getting home though so next time will do some more conventional swimming too.

Another flutterkicking session. Right leg feels normal but I can't see any reason to take any chance on subjecting it to impacts yet.

Cycling to work. Right leg feels somewhat better on waking but I'm not planning on challenging it with any impact sports until at least Thursday. Cycling directly home.

Abdominal stuff and some unlogged stretching time while opting to watch Serena and Venus in preference to whichever of Rudy Giuliani and Sarah Palin was talking at the time.

Cycling to work and home by way of the aquatic center. Knee and surroundings were fine with this although there were some things feeling not quite right in my walking around after waking - one reason for going to the pool rather than running in the evening.

Flutterkicking only, since I've misplaced my goggles. Right leg seemed fine with this too.

Warmup/cooldown/rests.

Running 17:53 [5] 4.87 km (3:40 / km)

4x1217m intervals in 4:27, 4:26, 4:28 and 4:32.

My right knee, actually, more its surroundings, started acting up during the first or second one of these. Nothing felt acutely painful or as though something was being damaged but something in the set of parts that work to stabilise the knee was complaining, about what exactly I don't know. It didn't seem serious enough to justify ending the workout early.
