Hiking 1:15:00 [1]

Logged portion of another quick visit to Rosaryville on the way back to DC in the afternoon. Raining continuously so I stuck to outlining patches of vegetation in open to semi-open areas where their boundaries are nevertheless difficult or impossible to make out in the available orthorectified aerial photographs.

Swimming 30:00 [3]

Swam various strokes for a while then flutterkicking with fins for perhaps the remaining two thirds of the workout.

Note

Also went for a last walk on the beach and found a group of twenty to thirty small shorebirds all doing their scurrying dance with the waves. It was also very amusing seeing them scurry up the beach to shelter in the dune grasses when a rain squall hit.

Running 45:00 [2]

Easy run with Dan, featuring, as she logged, our first sighting of the week of a pair of small shore birds (sanderlings?) scurrying back and forth hunting in the area wetted by each retreating wave.

Swimming 33:00 [3]

Another swim in a slightly cooler pool while Dan worked out in the gym. Switched to flutterkicking wearing fins for the last approximately ten minutes.

Running 49:41 [3]

Another beach run, alone in light rain driven by extreme winds - extreme enough to blow sand along the beach in a way homily reminescent of blowing snow on a windy winter day in Ottawa. Ran upwind for just over half an hour, a fair bit of it backwards for the sake of my eyes when the wind picked up even more, and returned in just over half that.

Running 1:39:00 [2]

Beach run, partly with and partly without Dan - I stuck with her until she'd put in her intended time and then went on ahead while she started walking back. I turned around after about 15 minutes to catch up with her. Somewhat windy so there were many pelicans soaring about hardly ever beating their wings. Found an improbably number of intact whelk shells - usually they've been bounced around roughly enough somewhere to knock at least one big hole in them but I started finding intact ones shortly after leaving Dan behind.

Swimming 30:00 [3]

The time share's pool proved to be small, too shallow for deep water running and, on this occasion, barely cooler than the adjacent hot tub (thankfully, someone turned the heat down progressively over the course of the week - it was only slightly warmer than most pools by the end of the week), so a half hour of swimming using various strokes was all I could stand to do.
