Cycling 32:00 [3]

To Metro and then onwards to Lake Accotink. Tried to go there from memory without consulting a map - bad move as I didn't head far enough north before turning west towards the park. Just barely hit the south end of it. Nice ride through the park to arrive at registration about 10 minutes late for my beginner instruction duties. Accepted a ride back to Metro from Sid at the end of the day.

Orienteering 52:26 [4] 7.2 km (7:17 / km) +320m 5:58 / km

Blue course at Lake Acccotink - more challenging than usual for Lake Accotink since the leaves had apparently come down the previous day. Small trails were therefore difficult to see and it's always easy on the 1:7500 map with the dense trail network for trails to come up on you before you're really ready for them. Also had a few headscratching moments due to overgeneralised contours, a few not so much questionable placements as placements with significant margins of error and the all but inevitable case on a course with all those loops of spending most of the time on the way from 20 to 21 looking at 9 on the map - major lack of terrain to map correspondance until I corrected that. Sid didn't supply an official climb figure

Orienteering 25:00 [2]

Picking up 9 controls.

Note

EMPO relay and 1 day classic meet. I'm now definitely blowing this one off - four A meets on four weekends in a row this fall was enough.

Modern Dance 1:30:00 [2]

Class with Deborah. Probably last one for at least a couple of weeks what with map raising the coming Saturday and... actually, I probably can do the 5K on the 13th and still make it to class.

Note

Waiting for Nadim to announce, in his apparent ongoing effort to mess with Spike's mind, that he ate a plateful of lard and found he'd lost weight the next morning.

Cycling 1:06:00 [3] 13.0 mi (5:05 / mi)

Running 27:20 [1]

Warmup, cooldown and rest between intervals.

Running 16:11 [5] 4.4 km (3:41 / km)

4x1100m in 3:56, 4:02, 4:06, and 4:07 with rest sliding from 1:56 between the first two to 2:19 between the last two. Apparently, I wasn't entering the workout fully rested and brimming with energy.

Note

A note on weight - I ran into a digital scale just over a week ago while stuffing mailing tubes at PCRM. Apparently I was down to 171.1 lbs compared to a couple of surprising readings around 178 late in the spring and early in the summer. Encouraging to apparently be back around what I consider normal if not down to the weight of my most frantic, time-in-which-to-eat-deprived year of university. Plus I now ought to be able to weigh myself on the same scale at least every few weeks on average.

Cycling 1:12:00 [3] 14.0 mi (5:09 / mi)

Form exercises 42:00 [3]

Warmup/cooldown jogs, bum kicks, A's, B's, 2 stretches of bounding up gentle grassy hill and 9x100m strides.

Modern Dance 1:10:00 [1]

Class with Nejla - the piece is starting to gel. A good thing given we perform it in four weeks.
