Orienteering 40:00 [3]

Peggy's exercise at Meadowood. Still hot and humid. Near uniformly pleasant woods absolutely and in comparison to the previous two days.

Running 1:16:31 [2] 10.37 km (7:23 / km)

Having dropped Dan off at home after the training, went a scouting to Bull Run Regional Park. Largely floodplain, flatter even than Mason Neck, speckled with rootstocks where not open or developed for human recreation (large picnic area and six circular clearings containing soccer fields). Woods mostly good visibility, thorns mostly absent. Too bad about the many grassy plants, some invasive, carpeting much of the woods, but they shouldn't be a problem in November-April the way they are at the moment. Overall, worth giving a fairly high priority on our mapping prospect list.

Orienteering 1:05:00 [2]

Picking up my Pohick Bay controls.

Orienteering 1:20:00 [2]

Tom Strat's Mason Neck score-O in most sweltering conditions of the weekend. A bit too much course setting exuberance - I think everyone would have been fine with 2/3 to 7/10 the controls - but I cleaned it. Developing a tradition of always being unsure of my location after eastwards crossings of one particular area of broad shallow reentrants and relocating every time on the same set of three giant rootstocks in a row.

Orienteering 1:20:00 [1]

Hanging the controls for my contribution to the training weekend at Pohick Bay. Not quite in order so a bit shorter than the course proper.
