Orienteering 14:00 [2] ** 2.3 km (6:05 / km)

orange-level course at hyland. I'm counting this because I broke a good sweat.

MTB (road) 3:16:00 [3] 49.3 mi (15.1 mph)

Not sure how much training time I can fit in this weekend. Got a full Saturday PM with mobiz & friends, then Annie's in from Seattle and we're going to Lacrosse on Sunday. So I got in a long workout today. Legs are stiff again :)

Running (trail) 1:30:00 [3] 11.3 mi (7:58 / mi) +100m 7:45 / mi
shoes: Salomon XA Pro 3D (2006, black

All trails, all the time, no stop, no water. Last 20 minutes got a little challenging as I started to dehydrate. At Sunfish - a small park. There was one section of trail I ran no less than six times. Hencely, no route today because it would be a mess, both to record and to read.

Running (trail) 1:00:00 [2] * 6.0 mi (10:00 / mi) +80m 9:36 / mi
shoes: Salomon XA Pro 3D (2006, black

TNT trail run at Hyland. Took turns leading the group on a fixed route split across 3 maps. Also includes run back to start.

Orienteering (Micro) 7:00 [5] ** 1.0 mi (7:00 / mi)
spiked:8/8c shoes: Salomon XA Pro 3D (2006, black

Tape pickup race around visitor center. Logged intensity 5 since I almost puked.

The exercise certainly gave too much advantage to fast runners. Darryn suggested improving the incentive by doubling up on the tape. Tripling might even work well (i.e., first two or three runners to a point get to score, instead of just the first one.)

Paddling (kayak) 1:50:00 [2] 8.5 mi (4.6 mph)

Super duper secret area. Some light rapids and bounced off a few rocks, another foot of water would have been better.

MTB (road) 40:00 [3] 10.0 mi (15.0 mph) +80m

Bike from takeout back to the car, plus checking out an ATV trail.

Running (trail) 20:00 [2] 2.0 mi (10:00 / mi) +30m 9:33 / mi

Easy jog at some mega secret surprise place. Looked really nice and open, but I suspect it's too "managed" to be suitable for my original plan.

On my way in I heard a bunch of wood cracking and found the source a little farther up the hill; a full 60 ft mature tree that had been blown over and was laying against a couple of its siblings. Right at the exact moment I came up to it, several large chunks peeled off the trunk and crashed to the ground, together with a number of branches dislodged from farther up in the crown. (This all happened about 20-30 feet off the trail, so there was no danger.)

I'm now sure that when a tree falls in the forest and there's someone there to hear it, it make a sound.
