Kendal Urban race.
Enjoyed this race. Ran well with only a couple of small errors. Felt flowed through race well, esp the first half which was pretty straightforward. Managed to keep pace up on hills too which was pleasing.

Second half was more interesting. Ran it well apart from being caught out at 14 - the blue north line control. Despite having a minute to plan this was convinced there was a passage through the building which turned out to be the north line and a bit of a shadow either side - made it look like a canopy. Reassuringly Val couldnt understand how I made a mistake at the control - but pointed to exactly the same way through...
Straw pole after event reckon more than 50% have made the same assumption. Shame as its a good control and might have cought me out anyway. Well done to those that read and understood the WHOLE control description!
Otherwise felt I did well on this one.

Dist ran - 8.7k and 145m climb.

(1047 ranking points - may be my best ever!)

Ran the 2010 Sprint selection Mens race in Erskine to get my head into urban mode for Kendal tomorrow. Its been long enough that I made a couple of wee route choice errors and (as warned by Donald) probably lost a minute or so faffin around in the woody bit in the South which has not only changed a bit due to growth and fallen trees, its back to its old grotty littered self after I cleaned it up for the elites two years ago. Note to PAW - this bit needs updated at some point!

Race officially 2.7k 50m climb.

Uploaded it to Clyde RG virtual Erskine race site. Failed to beat my 2010 self but would have been close it wasnt for the woody bits.

For a cool down ran over the flyover into Rashielee part of Erskine which I think Patrick is now mapping for SOUL event in 2013. It looks fantastic - lots of paths, underpasses etc and actually a wee bit less skeffy than the currently mapped bit.
