Orienteering (O Cup) 1:54:00 [4] 13.0 km (8:46 / km)
shoes: Salomon Speedcross 3 Black

Great day for a snowy O-Cup at Kelso. If it's an O-Cup, it must be time for a classic Wilberto blunder. Once again, no nav issues with CPs I'm looking for - the problems start when I'm not looking for the right one. Started well and found a good groove once my HR got under control. Into box #1 and A, B, then found D and ED, then out around to F. Coming back I realized I didn't need G so I could stay out on the trail, then right over to 8. Moving well now, over to 9, 10 then 11 and over the trail almost to 12. So well, in fact, that I go back and look a little closer at my map. Hmmm. WHAT ABOUT 7? Sigh. Debate going forward, but realize I have time, so I take the trails back through the middle to 7, then back around to 8,9,10,11 again and onto 12 (much faster to CP's the second time around...). Snowing more now, so the elephant tracks into CP's helps. 13B, then 13a, then over to 14 (Great view) and 15. Down below and I can't find D until I look up a little. Around to A, back across and finally down to the finish. Results say I MPed 12, but I was there, so go figure. Thanks to the Gators for a fun event and DD11 for a great course and fun prizing (Kabobs for everyone!). Good to see friends out, although my long route meant I got back late and no time to change. First winterish race with the minivan and I loved it. Climbed in, started the engined, cranked front and back heat, and changed in the back with so much more space than the old Subaru.
