Kayaking 51:00 [3] 4.75 km (10:44 / km)

Awake early so took advantage of misty lake. Just me, a family of ducks, 2 barking dogs and a heron.

Mtb Bike (Mostly roads) 3:45:00 [3] 54.0 km (14.4 kph)

Day 3 of our Tour de Sir SAMs. Pete says there's a cute coffee shop in Haliburton so plan is to ride in for lunch. Head E from Sir SAMs down steep Moose mountain road to Moose Lake cottage road, then S on Harburn road into Haliburton. Before we stop, Pete insists we climb up to Skyline park for the view over the town. Great view and nice extra grinding climb. Have an awesome lunch at Heritage House Cafe, then back along 118 west and N on Haliburton Lake road to Eagle Lake. Pete is training for Tour For Kids Cape Breton so I was happy to draft most of the time except on downhills when the combo of easy rolling 29" wheels and my bigger mass made for good cruising. Rather than ride the road back to Sir SAMs, I noticed a back road that ran across the ridge behind the ski area so we decide to climb up and try to come in from the top. The road is a killer climb, but we find a back way in and connect with the boys at the top just finishing their mtb camp. We follow them and do another climb up the ski hill. Awesome 3 days of riding and loving the new bike.

Mtb Bike 2:31:00 [3] 38.83 km (15.4 kph)

The boys in camp at Sir SAMs so we wanted a more AR style loop for today. I loaded the WT2010 topo from the WT website (thanks Getawaystix) on my phone and headed E from Sir SAMs and hoped for a connecting trail/road to Moose Lake road. Thankfully it connects and road out to Harburn rd then up through Fort Irwin to Ross Lake road to go W to pick up the power line. Big long climb, but so worth it as we stopped for lunch at amazing lookout point, complete with deck and chairs. Headed S down classic power line trail with lots of rocky ups and downs until back to cottage roads down to Eagle Lake, around and back to Sir SAMs just as the boys finished up. Great ride.

Mtb Bike 3:26:00 [3] 26.73 km (7.8 kph) +611m

Pete & I dropped the boys at Sir Sam's mtb camp and then set out to explore. Hadn't been here since WT2010 base camp and had never ridden here. Good trail network, with lots of ups and downs. Think we climbed the hill 6 or 7 times which were great long sustained climbs. Saw the kids a few times and they were having a blast and so were we. Felt like we earned the post ride milkshakes.

Bike Commuting 30:27 [3] 10.27 km (20.2 kph)

No humidity so time for commuting. I don't have a shower at work, so the once the days get up into really sticky territory, it makes for an uncomfortable workday for me (and probably my co-workers).

Bike Commuting 35:00 [3] 10.3 km (17.7 kph)

Ride home. Extra degree of difficulty for last couple km as I rode with 1 hand, steering the boy's mtb that I picked up from the shop with the other. He's off to mountain bike camp for 3 days so needed it tuned and ready.

Mtb Bike 1:20:00 [4] 16.2 km (12.2 kph)

Belated Happy Birthday to me on Sat as I picked up my new ride. The boys rallied for a Sunday morning loop at Durham to help me try it out. Amazing how 29" wheels and a lighter bike made me a better rider :) Glorious morning and loved the new ride.
