Orienteering (O-Cup Icebreaker) 1:33:35 [3] 7.2 km (13:00 / km)

O-Cup Icebreaker. Rallied the family and got us all in the car by 8:30 Sat morning, only to have to turn around to go back and get our second compass. Parked by the side of the road and walked up for registration (forgetting SI card to clear & check...) then felt bad about making obvious yellow snow so I patiently waited for the portapottie. Finally got changed, SI cleared and the family sorted and realized I didn't have my compass, so sprint back to the car, only to find I had it all along. I love pre-race stress. Finally catch the end of the briefing and GO, we're off up the trail.
Follow the big conga line and try to get some rhythm on the uneven snow. I'm on course C and find CP1, then on up to find B. Of course redlining off the start means the brain stops working and I get turned around which trail I'm on, as I can't see the fence on the map. Finally decided to proceed on my hunch until I see some feature. Find the big bend in the trail and I'm on my way. Get B & C and then back down to D. Handicap of 2, so plan was to drop A & F, but of course I forget that coming out of D and head to A. Minor correction and I'm back over towards E. Coming through a valley and see part of the front of the race pass in front of me (Mick, GStix, Bender) as they FLY down the hill from 2. I climb up to E, then down and back up to 2. Realize after, better route would be to go around and then up the backside to 2, but can never have enough climbing, right? Bearing across to 3, then 4, and the main trail to 5 and 6 and pick up map 2. Looking at my watch, I'm dubious whether I can clear in 90 minutes, but decide to just press on. Find 1 , then across to C on the island. Out to B and run with Funderstorm for a while to D, A and 2, where we met Mr Funderstorm. I get lazy and follow them, before I remember that I'm likely headed for a different CP3 and have to readjust. 4, 5 then back to the finish.
Tough slogging on the course - really pointed out my lack of core, as you really needed the stability on the uneven snow. Happy finishing midpack, with only minor nav bobbles. Tough going for Mrs. W and the kids as they somehow got off trail and thanks to MJ for putting them back on course. Apparently there was some whining and piggybacking required, but post race cookies seemed to help with that and they rallied in time to tromp out into the woods once more for Snow Day games, which they enjoyed. Thanks to Pat-hectic for organizing, as making it a fun day for my family helps get us all out and helps me get to race. Sad I couldn't join the AR pub crawl after, but we headed on to Alliston for the rest of the weekend in the pool at the hotel.

Spinning 30:00 [3]

Snow removal a couple streets over and the BEEP BEEP BEEP at 5:30 am wasn't how I wanted to start my day. Decided to get up and did some spinning in the basement.

Stretching 20:00 [2]

Finished spinning and did some stretching with the foam roller.

Spinning 40:00 [3]

Watched the Raptors while sweating on the spin bike.

Yoga 45:00 [3]

Trying to find good internet yoga for Mrs Wilberto and her hip challenges. Saw this on Escondido's log and thought we'd try it after my spin. Pretty good.
