Running 1:08:56 [3] 10.3 km (6:42 / km) +110m 6:21 / km

OK Nuts Trophy - Brown

Calf was sore from the start.... caught Mark Saunders (2 mins) at number 7.... but couldn't shake him off. I was probably orienteering slightly better before I caught him (despite having Angus Lund (1 min) with me from number 2).

Went round semi open instead of straight on 10-11, stopped too early at 15 (miss counted paths!)

Went high instead of low 22 to 23...

A few other hesitancies here and there

Winner: Richard Robinson 54:33 2nd Ed Catmur 56:15 3rd Richard Barrett 58:01

Reasonably happy, but a little frustrated that calf meant I could not push it as much as I would have liked

4th (Second M40 behind Richard - who was with Ed Catmur most way around as they started 1 minute apart)

Running warm up/down 15:00 [1]

Orienteering race 1:08:50 [3] 7.7 km (8:56 / km)

Southern Night Champs - Short Brown

Started off very steadily and had a few light problems and kept on having to stop to reconnect light to battery!! Lost time on first 3 controls due to above.....

Came out of 3 slightly wrong and almost crossed wrong road!! then into 4 found a small unmarked path that had a couple of depressions on left just like the mapped one I thought I was on... went in from here but could not find conrtrol so went back out and tried again, this time getting right path and straight into control....

Changed lamp on way to 5...

Caught by Mark Bown and Geoff Ellis at 6 and we all messed up 7... I thought they seemed to be going high, but didn't do my own thing!!

Got a bit of a tow as far as 12

16 seemed to be further from semi open than it shows on map

Slow into 17 and then caught in some crap trying to get to 18

Rubbish route to 19 and faffed about a bit at 21 and confused by paths coming out of 22 (should just have gone on bearing)

3rd M40 - reasonably happy as night not my thing

calf started hurting on way to 24

Running warm up/down 25:00 [1]

Running 38:08 [3] 7.24 km (5:16 / km) +131m 4:50 / km
shoes: Brooks Pure Grit

Disappointing turn out for intervals tonight, just me and Tim Longley

On one hand though these may not have been a bad thing as I'd had a headache all day and was feeling bunged up running

We decided to just go for a run, and threw in a few efforts including a couple of hills near uni halls, so I guess it was a mini fartlek session

Running 20:12 [4] 5.0 km (4:02 / km) +28m 3:56 / km

5km TT on Cycle Path

1km splits 4:14, 4:18, 4:01, 3:51, 3:46

Was aiming for sub-20

Took a bit of time to get going and felt a bit sniffly
