Orienteering race (BOK Silkwood) 47:24 [5] 7.72 km (6:08 / km) +70m 5:52 / km
shoes: Addidas Swoops

Blue course 6.6km with 70m climb

Unseasonally good weather matched up with unusually good navigation.

Pleased to get 1 ok as couldn't find it when planning the WNL. Overshot 2 as distracted by seeing the control in the pit on the left. Fine to 4 and 5.

Getting to 6 made much better by the felling and clearing. Very happy to get 7 bang on after the previous two attempts at finding the hole.

9 is a new mapped feature. Lost loads of time in the brambles getting to/from it. 10 ok. 11 got fine via the path to the W. Used feedback from the WNL to take the path route around the top into 12. Shame I was just so slow.

The block in by 14 was wonderful. Did 15 cleanly for once. Then was a mad dash to the finish (with a small loss on 18 looking for the right tree). Was apparently caning it up the hill to 21 and since I took the same time as Tim, maybe that was correct. Navigate to finish was correctly described and the run in probably even met the BOF Level C event guidelines - definitely an improvement on yesterday.

Had Laura behind me from control 3 until the finish so it gave some incentive to keep up the pace despite my legs being very tired from Malvern.

Glad I came here instead of going up to Midland Champs. I suppose any nav errors I make here would be unforgiveable.

Note
(injured)

Knee is feeling injured.

Think it is linked to the thinking I'd done too much tarmac/hard ground at control 18/19 yesterday, coupled with going up the hills post run and then running today.

Hope it isn't a problem but currently walking with a bit of a limp.
