orienteering race 52:00 [3]
slept:7.5

A good run overall. A bit hesitant, and more than a bit sluggish. Definitely some pain in my left heel (pf) and ankle (general), which made me wimpy on the rocks at times. But I ran all but one hill (and ran some of that), so not too bad.
Navigationally I had one error on 3, and hesitant on 4 with an unnecessary wobble on the route (just run to the swamp, dummy). A few other short hesitations on short legs that were really just me reading the map slowly rather than being hesitant. I would love to blame eyesight, but it was a beautiful sunny day ... glasses were working fine ... so I'll claim winter 'rust' instead. Still, it was a very clean run overall, which was my goal, and I'm happy!
Tried to squelch distracting thoughts ("Why was Bridget turning off into the thick swamp? Did she figure it out?" (yes) "Did she run off the map?" (no) "Is she behind me anywhere?" (Look, no)) She beat me on quite a few splits, though.

running warm up/down (trails) 3:00 [1]

Very sad excuse for a warm up. Didn't cool down due to pf. Headed off to buy insoles. Note for future: go to Target, not any one of the multiple shoe/sports stores. The shopping trip was definitely my most error prone leg of the day! Woodbury Commons is scary!!

Strength (core, arms) 13:00 [1]

Mostly core, just a little arms. Wanted to do a little something, but didn't want to feel it tomorrow.

orienteering race (sprint) 17:00 [4]
shoes: Salomon Speedcross 4

City park = no excuse to slow down. One wobble, about 2 seconds, the rest was (lack of) speed. Kept feeling tight, then reminding myself that I could go faster, which would work for a bit ... but didn't feel fast ... ever.

running warm up/down (grass) 23:00 [2]
shoes: Salomon Speedcross 4

13 w/u, 10 w/d. Quads tight. ITB tight. Need to stretch!

Strength (core, arms, legs) 30:00 [1]

Kept doing stuff, but with a lot of rest. A little feeble, but got to 30 minutes of actually working eventually. And I hurt, so I guess it worked.

running (trails) 40:00 [3]
shoes: Salomon Speedcross 4

With Ethan around Menotomy. Trying out the new shoes, so did some off trail also. They are a bit long, but I don't notice it at all running, and they have great grip. Keepers, I think ... but RRS gives me 90 days to figure it out, just in case I change my mind.

Felt fairly awful, then at about 25 minutes started feeling great. I just don't warm up quickly these days.

Cardio - other warm up/down (walking - roads) 20:00 [1]
shoes: Salomon Speedcross 4

To and from the woods. No pavement running allowed.

Note
(rest day)

Sunday and Monday had no time due to a trip with Ethan to visit college. Stevens Institute of Technology is it. Hoboken has a lot of restaurants, so I think we'll have to visit a few times ... but I'll also want to shell out for a hotel with a gym. City living doesn't work well for runners with dead knees.

8 hours in the car on Sunday, with nasty rain, flooded streets (1 hour was spent in a solid line of traffic, moving less than 200m ... but at least I wasn't one of the cars stalled out in the flood). I think it would have been more fun running Boston.
