Note
(injured)

Knee is stiff today, with some pain going up and down stairs and reduced mobility. Not sure if it is due to the running or due to the gardening. I tried not to squat at all and to keep the knee straightish ... but it is pretty impossible to weed and dig without bending one's knee.

Swimming 30:00 [3]
(injured)

Mostly free, some back and kick.

Right knee (and left one too a little) is stiff this morning. Mobility is there, but creaky. I need to ice after running still, I guess.

Swimming intervals 15:00 [4]

12 x 50 free with 30 seconds recovery. 43 mostly, last one 40! Pulse in 160s.

Cardio - other warm up/down (treadmill walking) 10:00 [1]
(injured) shoes: Asics 2130 Gold

5 min warm up, 5 min cool down.

running (treadmill) 20:00 [2]
shoes: Asics 2130 Gold

No pain! Kept the pace very slow. Started at 10 min/mile and bumped it up every 2 minutes until I got to 8:57. Then kept it there in spite of the temptation to go faster. Did the whole 20 minutes with no pain. Yeah!

Cardio - other (stair climber) 33:00 [3]

While I watched the kids swim lesson. Got a slow start as Ethan had forgotten his swim cap and it took 15 minutes to sort that out ... could've given him a quick hair cut in much less time!
8 PM

Pilates/Yoga (core and legs) 25:00 [1]

New DVD bought very cheaply at TJMaxx. It isn't bad. I didn't feel like I had worked particularly, but my core definitely felt it later. Not sure it will do much for leg strength, but it seems reasonable for stretching. Definitely not slow in pace, in fact I wish some of the exercises and stretches could be held longer. Worth the 2.99 I paid anyway, even if I only use it sometimes.

Note

MRI results today - no meniscus tear. The kneecap pain is being caused by the chrondocalciunosis (or something like that) meaning that I have calcium deposits that get annoyed. So, growths rather than tears. No surgery, just fight inflammation with anti-inflammatory meds and ice. Avoid squats, lunges and such like, which I already do.

So - good news, and I am going to start - slowly - running.

Cardio - other warm up/down (treadmill walking) 4:00 [1]
slept:8.0 (injured) shoes: Asics 2130 Gold

running (treadmill) 10:00 [2]
(injured) shoes: Asics 2130 Gold

Knee felt fine, at first. A little achy at 4 minutes, then at about a mile I suddenly had pain at the site of the ligament tear, quite sharp. So I stopped. At least I know that tomorrow's MRI is not wasting health care dollars now.
